Good Shoes for Squat?

i’ve been debating this lately. when i powerlifted, we used steeltoe boots cuz of the hard unyeilding sole and slightly raised heel… It’s amazing how much solid footwear can improve your stability.

My coach wore those inzer squat shoes, just as stable, only a slight rise of the heel, but cost a bit more. I would recommend these to anyone who can afford them.

since my form is a bit different, and i don’t do quite as heavy weight, and cuz i like them, i’m probably going to switch to chucks.

As a side note, we used to deadlift in wrestling shoes. reasonably cheap, totally flat, and tons of grip.

Barefoot is where its at.

Most people prefer to squat in shoes because it gives them something to push out against when they are trying to spread the floor with their feet.

Barefoot squatting can be dangerous. I don’t know about you but my feet sweat when I do any athletic activity. Imagine your feet slipping when you try to spread the floor.

How is barefoot squatting dangerous? I do most of my deadlifs and squats barefoot. ALthough now with my Nike Frees I might just kep them on.

My feet never sweat.
