Hi coach. My low back is very weak and it limits me in the deadlift and squat.
What’s the best way to strengthen the low back?
Would barbell good mornings be a good exercise to focus on? And should I use more sets with less reps in order to go heavy. Thanks.
I like bw reverse hypers for time and weighted back extensions. They are fairly safe too.
I support these and you should do these movements in higher rep ranges
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated
Good mornings are great. BUT if your lower back is weak, you will likely compensate with other muscles. So I concur with the other suggestions: back extensions and reverse hypers would be great choices.
Two other moves you can use are a seated goodmorning and the strict back goodmorning (I also call it the blocked hips goodmorning):

BTW, that’s one of the Crossfit girls I worked with… 195lbs snatch, 245lbs power clean
Thanks so much
