thanks all. Still feeling like a pussy in the squat department but that will change. The ssb bar messes with you. Guy I was training with tonight, who has the much better raw squat, says it knock about 70lbs off his. His problem though is the upper back involvement.
For me it isn’t that so much, my upper back strength is decent. It’s more the just balancing the weight, and then off the box, getting drive with that much weight. With DE work I feel I can pause and think about it a little, in the whole with the heavier weight I just stopped.
Regarding the new S addition, the wife is due anytime between now and end of June. We are hoping sooner than later. I am placing my bets on the holiday weekend. Kid has got to be about 7lb now, or thereabouts, she is uncomfortable as can be, but we are all very excited, including the little boy. He keeps talking about what a good big brother he is going to be, and I am very proud.

do GMs carry over more for your squat or for your deadlift? for me they help squat and don’t do much for dead…
I don’t know, for me it really seems to help stability in the squat, when my weight in the GMs goes up I feel way more secure when squatting. Next few weeks should tell. But the back strength has to do something for you deads too.
Still wish they would have GMs as one of the competition lifts, lol.
Can you call someone about that. I find them easier than squats. I’ve added them back in again but only go up to 195. I feel tighter squatting with less forward/backward movement with my back. I’m not sure how to describe it but I have less forward lean.
elbow feeling a little better, went for more of a volume approach today.
DE Bench 8 x 3 w/225 + dbl minis
rolling tris 6 x 10 w/100s and mini
dumbell bench 100s x 20, 20, 15 tris on fire at this point
crossover 3 x 20 because at this point I was in the Swolly Land
land mine presses 45 x 20, 70 x 12, 80 x 10
rope down/extension 2 x 20 each
ez bar lateral some x some
dumbbell curls 40s x 10, 60s x 8, x 8
cable curl 1 x drop because I was bored, tired, and hungry and wanted to grab the kid and get out of there.
So then I went to the child care, and the kid was busy playing with a little girl in a pink tu tu, he told me to leave and come back later.

Rack pulls, 3 pin. On me this is about an inch and a half below the knee. Set after set of warm ups then 665 x 5. This is right about at PR level for me.
Front squats. Haven’t done these seriously in a long, long time. Need to bring them back in. Started off light to get the feel for them again.
135 x 6, 225 x 6, 275 x 6. Want to just try and build this up to a real 6 rep max over the next couple of weeks.
close stance leg press. Seat dropped for long range of motion. 540 x 15, 810 x 15, 900 x 15
seated leg curl 4 x 10-15
pulldowns 6 x 8-10
decline abs 3 x 20
cranked hypers, weighted 3 x 10
face pulls 3 x 15
cable abs 3 x 10
sled drags, 5 backward w/90 lbs.
forward sprints, 7 working up to 205 on the sled for the last. Fairly fast too. Nearly puked.
Wanted to go eat burgers and fries after, but due to me again mimicking my pregnant wife’s diet too much (+ some beer) I opted for some low carb crap out of the gym’s cafe.
Took a nap, and woke up already feeling sore from today. Love it. Good sore, not the usual bad crampy sore that has made me feel like a wuss last few weeks.
Wife had another doc appointment today. Now she is less likely to give birth in the next seven days than she was seven days ago, if that makes sense. She looks, and is, as uncomfortable as all heck. Both me and the kid gave her foot rubs tonight.
wow. if I had been as nice to my wife as you are to yours when mine was preggers, maybe she wouldn’t hate me so bad now.
you mentioned an interview not too long ago. how did that go? If you figure my career started in 1991 when I got out of grad school, then in 19 years I have spent about 6 of them unemployed. this too shall pass.

yeah, this is an interesting interlude in my life, not bad. if it wasn’t for the economics I would have no problem being a stay at home dad. The interview was ‘funny’, the hiring manager spent at least 20 minutes going over how I was overqualified for the position and she didn’t want to hire someone that might be gone in 3 years. 3 years, really?
30 minutes elliptical + 2 mile dog walk + hiking with the kid thru state park to go fishing. Hopefully to balance out a little the fried chicken, cheeseburgers, brats, etc.
summer eatin bloat was in full effect today, felt crappy and off balance. Will correct this quickly.
Squatting: 145 x 5, 225 x 5, 315 x 3
Briefs 415 x 2, 505 x 2, 575 x 2 x 3
RDLS 255 x 6, 345 x 6, 435 x 6
GHRs weighted 5 x 10
hanging abs 4 x 10
shrugs 4 x 15 w/130s
prowler 10 x 90lb x 40 yd, 30 second rest
The bloat made me feel awkward in the briefs. also want to keep the intensity relatively down on this day while I pour a bit more energy into my other lower (DL) day for the next couple of weeks. Will build on squat with intensity and volume gradually though.

Nice work. When it starts to get warm out, like this weekend, I tend to start eating a little less. Seems I’m either not hungry, or not bored. Which ever it is, it makes me bloated if I take in too much food, unlike winter where I can eat all day and not feel a thing.
DE Bench 185 + dbl minis 9 x 3, 3 different grips
JM Press 185 x 10, 225 x 6, 276 x 6, 315 x 6. Had a dude in a TapOut shirt spotting, had to tell him to get his !@#$ing hands off the bar.
Dbell inclines 100s x 8, 115s x 8, 115s x 8. Was going to go for max reps on the last set, but a midget in a Superman shirt walked in front of my line of vision. I lost focus and determination.
Arnold press 4 x 12-15
rope downs 6 x 15-20
EZ Curls 3 x 10
Preacher curl 3 x 12
rope hammers 3 x 15
Hard to maintain focus today, but that is ok, isn’t a max day anyway. Elbow is feeling better. Not 100%, but good enough to do something a little more serious Saturday.
