Going Bananas

some good train’n there pete. i just threw skull crushers back in as my main movement. i do mine a bit different to save the elbows- as the weight reaches my forehead, i drop the elbows down towards my feet and the drive the weight up that way. it takes a lot of the stress off the elbows. my tries are fried today.

funny story-

an old roommate of mine would watch porn righ there in the living room. one day i came home and he’s watching this porn called “chicks with dicks” he’s like “check these hot chicks out fucking each other.” i was like “dude… those are guys with fake tits”. his face dropped and looked like i ran his dog over. from then on i accused him of being ghey. i really hope he never rubbed one out to that vid. that would haunt me forever.

One of my favorite gym quotes lately, from a training partner: “trannies are ok as long as they are at least 6 weeks into their homronal treatment”.

BTW, do you have a vid of how you are doing extensions? I am much too lazy to watch all of your vids. Actually it isn’t laziness, it is carefully managing the time of what kind of vids I am going to watch.

I got too gung ho at trying to do strict extensions today, usually I am all elbows out with a ton more weight. got a hair up my ass on that one, now I need ice

Happy with today’s training. Set an all time PR, previous best was at a 20lb heavier body weight.

Wierest thing, in all my many years going to commercial gyms I have only seen one other person doing GMs. Actually two other people. And they were friends of mine. Today I went in and there were two guys, at two seperate stations, doing them. Odd.

For me:

Goodmornings, medium stance: 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 315 x 5, 385 x 5, 435 x 5. This was supposed to be my working set today, but it felt way too easy, so after a little thought did 465 x 5. +10 lb PR.

Trap bar deads 335 x 6, 425 x 6, 515 x 8. This is where my lack of lifting heavy stuff for reps greater than 5 kicked in . I think I will rotate these and try to get a lot of stupid reps with these.

pulldowns 6 x 10
face pulls 3 x 12
cable abs 5 x 15
dumbell shrugs 3 x 15

sled work:
backward drags 4 x 40 yds x 90lb
forward sprints 6 x 40 yds, last two at 185lbs.

30 minutes elliptical this a.m., then got suited up for a job interview.

Pete, of all the big weights you move, I think the weight you move on the GMs is the most shocking. 435 x 5 is freaking huge. I am going to make GMs a priority.

do GMs carry over more for your squat or for your deadlift? for me they help squat and don’t do much for dead…

I don’t know, for me it really seems to help stability in the squat, when my weight in the GMs goes up I feel way more secure when squatting. Next few weeks should tell. But the back strength has to do something for you deads too.

Still wish they would have GMs as one of the competition lifts, lol.

did a walk later in the day, two miles, got annoyed though because at least two couples had there small dogs off leash, come on people, you aren’'t in your back yard. My dogs are ok with it, to a point, but still…

watching Pathfinder for the second time, seems like some Raw vs Geared propoganda. Geared buys have skulls on there heads, cool dogs, more equipment (armor, weapons) but still loose to some A&F model looking dude? come on…

Benching got moved to today, one of the guys competed in and mostly dominated strongman comp yesterday.

Elbow was still tweaked from stupid tricep extensions the other day. Despite this happy with my day.

Warm ups, the usual.

Raw 2 board 280 x 5, 320 x 5, 370 x 5, 390 x 5, 410 x 5, + 2 rep PR over last time.

laterals 3 x 10
front raise 3 x 10
band pushdowns 5 x 20
EZ curl 5 x 10-12

Kept it somewhat simple, and skipped lat work. Want to feel somewhat fresh for squatting tomorrow night.

squeezed a walk in with the dogs tonight. not sure how much I will be able to walk them this summer, the St. Bernard esp is getting old, and the heat seemed to hit both of them (90 and humid here today). Will try to keep it later in the evening and maybe curtail the distances, figure out something more for myself.

SSB to low box, close stance.

It has been a long long time since I did box squats for an ME movement, and I never have with the SSB. Humbling night.

Warm ups then 440 x 3, 490 x 1, 510 x 0, 440 x 3. The 490 went up just fine, felt I could have gotten more, so I didn’t think the 510 would be a problem. I got to the box, went to get up, and there was just nothing firing. Will definitely keep these in as both ME and accessory work though. The last 440 x 3 was meant to be 5, but I was just feeling buried. These are definitely revealing a big weakness, or the hot humid day knocked me on my ass, or both.

Dumbbell rows 120s x 10, x 10, 130s x 10, x 10

Dumbbell shrugs 3 x 20 w/130s
