Going Bananas

I hate shopping for that shit, but its gotta get done. Don’t skimp on the shoes and belt.

Whew! Finally caught up with your log… f’n nice work brother!

One thing though… - it is ok to wear pink rubber gloves when doing the dishes… just cut the fingers off so they look more manly.
- and the new name of your thread is o.k., but I would have suggested “The Gear Hunter”… lol!

Seriously brother… good luck with the interview, and if you have to… rent a tux… that will make a statement! lol!

Thankfully I am fully stocked in shoes, a few years back I invested in some Johnston Muprhy’s, Florsheim, and Loakes, all brands you simply resole, not replace. Just have to break out the shoeshine kit. That reminds me, socks. Need socks.

We watch Sprout and PBS channel 11. Watching Elmo right actually between posting on a couple of sites and cooking 2nd breakfast.

i immidiately thought of the movie “Stepbrothers” when they went in for an interview and they both had on tuxes. if you haven’t seen that movie you have to. the one scene where Will Ferrell rubs his ball sack all over his stepbrothers drum set… classic.

DE squat/lower assistance
reverse band squat to low box

425 x 2 x 2
475 x 2 x 2
525 x 2 x 2
felt slow so
455 x 4 x 2

shoulders and hips both beat up, at the end I felt like I could maybe do something

Wide stance GMs worked up to 405 x 12

Zerchers (aka IhateMeats) 225 x 8, 275 x 8

got it in my head that I am going to build up reps on Zerchers, we shall see how this goes

leg extensions 5 x 15

haven’t done these in awhile

ended with a circuit of GHRs, Ab wheel, split squats, 3 sets of a bunch of reps each

forgot my Ipod. That really sucks for me when going to the commercial gym. I just can’t block out the horrible R&B they crank there.

You’ve seen my prom pictures! (Graduated 1973). Dark blue for the Jr Prom and Light blue for the Sr Prom. Damn, I looked good, just like a teenage pimp. It was the big, wide, velvet bow tie that got you laid, though.

Harry, are you saying if I wear a big wide bow tie to my job interview it might get me laid? I am all over it.

I am having too much fun in this forum. Must be the cabin fever.

Recommendation: Just finished James Ellroy’s new book, Blood’s a Rover or something along those lines. Third in his trilogy. Really good stuff. Manly reading. Read them all. If they don’t add 20lbs onto your bench just by reading them, you are screwed.

Holy DOMs. must have been the leg extensions. Legs are useless today. Did 15 minutes treadmill, 15 elliptical, low settings.

Trained a little today, nothing too serious

Bent rows 135 x 15, 225 x 10, 275 x 10, 315 x 10, 10, 10

Shrugs 315 x 15, 405 x 15, 495 x 15, 15

Bicep face pulls 5 or 6 sets of 15

HS High row 3 x 12

dumbell curl 3 x 12

cable curl 1 x drop set

standing calves 1 x 100, rest pause (stole this from Meat).

i’ve noticed a dramatic improvement in my calves since i started doing them… enjoy the DOMS.

Good work, Pete. Did you get a suit picked out for Monday?

Meat: saw the wisdom of the rep paused 100s. My calves are woefully smaller than they used to be when I was more BB focused, I used to be a proud sporter of 21.5 inch calves, and that was when I weighted 30 lbs less. I have a hard time justifying spending a lot of time on them, and I figure there isn’t much chance a couple 100 rep sets a week are going to tap my CNS and destroy my other training. I will be sore for sure, but not drained. Ghey, BBer, vanity, whatever, I like having huge calves.

Jack, all set for Monday. Got fitted today, tailor said to pick it up Sunday.

Spent the whole day running. Took the boy with me and hit up some wholesale/discount type places hoping to find some clothes for interviews. Maybe if I wasn’t a white dude. Holy shit is it hard to get a basic oxford shirt in a big enough neck, that doesn’t make you look like you are a wanna be pimp. And that was at the ‘big and tall’ places. Hit up some generic department stores, and the necks there stop at 18 inches. Jackets topped out at 50s. So finally, and I have gone through this frustration many times, ended back at Men’s Warehouse. For some reason it is the only place is my nordic state that I can get fitted for a goddamn suit/jacket/tux. Do I sound like an ad? Same thing happenend ten years ago for my wedding, five years ago for my dad’s funeral, so don’t know why I am surprised. 5’11 with 64 shoulders and even now with my 38-40 waiste most places just turn me away. When my waiste was smaller it was even more of a joke.

So we ran around doing that, then hit the gym, kid played, I lifted, then we swam. No bear sightings in the locker room this time. Then we grabbed a snack in the plush little cafe they have, and suddenly my son, in the middle of the cafe, was pulling his pants down.
‘What are you doing?’
‘I have to go pee pee.’
‘Buddy, just pull them back up, we don’t pull them down until we are in the bathroom’.
‘Where’s the bathroom?’
‘Over there,’ I pointed.
Just then I realized my son had just mooned about 30 people doing cardio. God I love the kid.

File today under ‘deload’. I hadn’t plan on taking a deload, but I am over due. Just fucking banged up. I am discovering that with the heavy shirted benching I am only good for about two consecutive weeks before I need to raw dog it/do something different. Here is what got done today:

Warm ups 140 z 20, 230 x 10, 280 x 8, 320 to 2 board x 5, 410 to 3 board x 3

Add shirt 550 to 3 board x 3, 640 to 3 board x 3

Foremarms just too smashed up, called it quits, back to raw dog:

410 3 board x 3, 440 3 board x 3

Band pressdowns 6 x 20

external rotations 5 x 20

That was it.

Going to have to rein in the extra work a little bit, and focus for the next 3 weeks. Cannot believe the pain in my forearms today. Shoulders not great either. This next week will focus on recovery, might even try and get a massage.

x2. I haven’t done RP on every set, but just going for 100+ reps. Slow to top and stretched hold in the bottom ROM.

Ouchie.

Couple of years ago, bought a size 54 suit… the pants wer like a 48 waist or something (my waist is a 38/ 40. Guy says “oh yeah, we can tailor the pants, no problem”. A week later I get the suit back, and the back pockets are basically in the crack of my ass. Goofs.

Now, if they won’t “mix and match” jackets with the pants, I tell them to stuff it.

nice work- do you take anything for inflamation?
fish oil msm or even the curricumen500

It gets better when your short and only mildly stocky- od ‘skinny’ to you folk.

pants that are 30" inseam come in two sizes 48 inch waist and 24 inch waist.
how many people under 5’10 have an 18" neck- I get stuck swimming in dress shirts.
