Going Bananas

They’re going to have to get more weight at the gym if you keep gaining at this pace. You’re in waters I’ll never be swimming in. 620 just boggles my mind shirted or not.

30 minutes treadmill

Thats a hell of a lot of weight for pressing, shirt or no shirt.

Gear deficient training:

Defecit DLs: 135 x 5, 225 x 5, 315 x 5, 405 x 2, 495 x 2, 545 x 2, 585 x 2

Deadlift: 495 + 4 pair chains x 2, 525 + 4 pair chains x 2, 545 + 4 pair chains x 2.

At the top my bad knee buckled a little, and I felt a rip in my right hand, lost a big old time worn callous. A girl who pulls close to four bills at about a 100lb bodyweight also broke blood, and the guy whose place it is was spurting blood out the nose while working up to an 875 squat, straps down. Good times.

Hanging leg raise 5 x 15

Reverse hypers some times some

leg press 5 x 15 w/800

My biggest problem with pulling is I suck at doing more than a couple sets over 85% of max. I am trying to quickly cure that, I don’t want to get my opener, and be pretty much gassed.

those are some great pulls hoss!! what was your deficit?? were they rawdog or gearwhore??

Defecit was the equivilant of a big fat bumper plate. I was like so totally rawdog tonight it was depressing. My lower work is currently gear deficient. However, not sure how much gear will help my pull, once it arrives, seeing as I pull conventional, which is notoriously gear-resistant.

Another thing I am working hard on is not stiff-legging my deads. Last set was almost all RDL.

Serious pulls, nice work.
585 dude!!!

callous grooming is a must.

I’m glad I’m not the Janitor there, I’d probably feel compelled to call the HazMat team. Great work.

Kevin,
This went to the ‘under-callous’. Next week I will try to beat my best for a deficit pull.

Jack,
Some blood has been spilt every Monday these last few weeks. Ammonia and papertowels are kept on hand.

Pete I have ripped stuff and ended hole in my palm its kind of awesome

saltwater- will help toughen the pink tender parts.

Saltwater, eh?

short on time for cardio this a.m. so this is what I did: treadmill, kinda high incline, with 20 lb backpack, 20 minutes. Actually got a decent sweat going. Going to duct tape my hand and do some training later.

Probably mostly unneccessary training:

Reverse pulldowns 5 sets 10-15 reps worked up to 285

Vgrip pulldowns 4 sets 10-12 reps

dumbbell rows 3 sets 12 reps w/125

preachers curls 4 sets 10-15 reps

rev curls 3 x 10

cable curl 3 x 10

face pull/cable abs/calve raise circuit 4 x some of each

beat up and tired today. satisfied my training ocd and the kid wanted to play with other kids, and it got us out of the house.

20 minutes treadmill, 20 elliptical. I need to get access to a sled again. And this frozen landscape just sucks for getting outside. Yep, cabin fever has officially set in.

More gear deficient training.

DE Bench 185 + dlbd mini 8 x 3, all super fast as they should be.

RAWWWW 3boards 315 x 5, 405 x 5 no spotters so I got chicken shit.

dumbell bench 3 x 15 w/110s

rolling tris with mini around back 110s x 10, 125s x 8

power pushdowns with mini around shoulders 5 x 15, up to 150 on stack

Hammerstrength military 5 x 15-8, working up to stack

ezbar lateral 3 x 10

dips 1 x 30

cardio this a.m. and then this session, haven’t showered, going to do that so my kids eyes can stop watering.

You posted earlier about gear and not helping the conventional dead that much. I was wondering about that cause it’d be kinda hard to get bent over if the gear was that stiff. Your lifts are pretty damn impressive sans the gear. What sold you on using it?

Harry,
I first started to come around my senses when I was dealing with reoccurring shoulder/bicep issues. On a decent day I was good for a respectable bench. If my bicep tendinitis flared it all I got buried at 350. That was one part of it. A loose bench shirt offered just enough support so that I could work consistently with progress.

But we have all heard the term ‘gateway’ drug, correct? well, if you are going to use enough just to offer a little support, you might as well see what it feels like to actually get some spring. And if you are going to do that you might as well be competetive and wear something that is really going to drive your numbers up.

To me it is a rush, it is just fucking nuts watch my training partner blow blood out his nose while powering up a 900lb squat. This multi-ply stuff is still new and a little scary, but dang it is fun.

Also it does kind of require you to seek out like minded freaks. I have been training alone, or with half-assed, uncommitted partners who wouldn’t keep up, for so long that it is enjoyable to meet up with a bunch of like minded freaks.

OK, I have to say that being a stay at home wife is feckin exhausting. 12-16 hour days of toddler time is easily some of the most trying, tiring, and rewarding time I have ever spent in my life. That being said the last 5 weeks has made my son inseperable from me. And I don’t really mind. The pregrancy has the wife too tired to function normally at night, so rarely am I getting a ‘break’. Our day together started at 7 a.m. today and ended at 10 p.m. We both collapsed at 3:30 p.m. for a nap, right next to each other. Wouldn’t trade this time for anything; in a sense, I feel blessed.

That being said, I got a call today from a headhunter soliciting me. Have an ‘interview’ Monday a.m. Checked them out, look to have a good rep aside from complaints in June of last year about them not getting some clients jobs in a timely manner, all resolved by business itself.

That is good news Pete, good luck with the interview.

Thanks Jack. Now I have to do what I absolutely hate doing: clothes shopping. Now, I wouldn’t mind if I wasn’t budget minded so much. But I do need to get some fresh essentials for the interview stuff. I have been in a ‘business casual’ environment for so long that the next level of my wardrobe is kinda old. Best fitting suit I have is from when my dad passed away 5 years ago. So, Men’s Warehouse, here I come…
