Went in feeling trashed from Sunday and Monday. Yes, my ass is sore from Monday night. Tris fried from Sunday’s band work.

DE Bench, 9 x 3 w/195 + dbld minis. 3 grips.
CG Bench 3 x 5 w/315. I knew there was no chance of a PR on these, so I went for some volume.
DB Bench 100s x 10, 125s x 12, x 10
pulldowns, nuetral grip 6 x some, worked up to 300 x 8 at top set.
face pulls 4 x 10-15
hammer curls 60s x 10, 80s x 10, 95s x 8 only PR of the day
laterals 40s x 10, 55s x 10, x 10

Had a training partner today. Dude weighs 175 and can bench 315. Wants to get bigger, stronger. Had him do a million sets of box squats, then bench with me.
And will he be back?
million dollar question. commecial gym dudes who want to get bigger/stronger don’t ususally train with me for very long. This dude seems to have some ambition, and he also seems pretty smart about it. can’t figure out why people hate following me around in the gym though. hmmm

<snicker, snicker>

30 minutes elliptical

Training is looking solid (as always). You ever MP? I bet its way up there.

Haven’t done any consistant MPs in about two years. My overhead press was once my strongest point. But it started creating too many problems. Right now I am doing some neutral grip stuff from time to time. I want to cycle them back in at some point. However, they are kinda a big energy movement, but with little carryover to real, I mean geared, powerlifting.

shouldn’t have done it: checked out one of the dudes i train with’s log. He pulled 675 X 6 Thursday. I am going to bed pissed.

Now that you mention it…I’m not the strongest guy I know, and there are some stronger guys at the gym, but it seems that whenever I work in with someone, they decide it’s time for them to do something else, no matter how many sets they may have had left. One of the things I have noticed is except for a couple of them, even the ones that are stronger than me right now, but not for long  don’t seem to have a purpose when they are lifting. Maybe it’s just me. Ah well. Someday, I’ll have a partner. Maybe.

RAWWWWWW benching day.

shoulder girdle all around felt tight and shitty until I got to floor presses

bar x 20, 140 x 10, 230 x 6, 2 board 320 x 3, 370 x 3, 410 x 3 lame

floor press 135 x 10, 225 x 10, 315 x 6, 365 x 3, 385 x 3, 275 x 19

CSR 5 x 10
front raise 5 x 10

prowler 10 x 50 yds x 90lbs

real windy today, extra distance plus wind made prowler extra fun:)

Nice work, Pete. That is some strong benching.

Do you use the econo prowler or the bigger one? The shipping on the big one is freaking steep. It looks like you would get the same workout from the econo prowler.

Jack,
Oddly, the one I am using I believe is in between. Really long story, and I may be lacking some details, so I will skip them. The econo works just fine from all I understand.

how can you call 410x3 lame??? that’s really good for… you know… a whore:)

seriously though, that move’n some weight.

in that case we will always remain lame. it’s never enough is it??

never be satisfied

managed two mile hilly walk today w/dogs as conditioning.

This might make a small dent in the amount of food I consumed at my sister’s house today. She is the ultimate foody. Today was simple lunch stuff: cold cuts, homemade egg salad, deviled eggs, but she puts all the accompaniments together, sliced onions, different pickles, three kinds of horseradish, multiple mustards, etc. It was a birthday deal for two of her boys, so of course there was homemade choclate cake and homemade cherry pie. All amazing. It is good in someways that we don’t get together every weekend…

410 raw board press lame… heavy sigh

x2

You just gave me the biggest urge for a dagwood type sandwich for lunch. Do you have a rule of thumb you use for raw vs geared, i.e, a lame 410 x 3 raw = 600 geared?

Harry, there is no good rule of thumb, simply because the muscle groups you want strong for a good geared bench are a little different than raw, i.e. lats and tris come way more into play in gear, versus the shoulders and pecs when benching raw. I see excperienced guys getting anywhere from 150 plus out of mutli-ply shirts. Unless you are Meat, he seems to bench kinda like he has a shirt sewn to his skin, which makes him an honorary gearwhore:)

I’d like to be lame like you Pete.

Minus the cheater getup, of course.

Cheater.

Oh the woes of being a gearwhore. The other day my briefs finally came, albeit looking like they made a detour to Kuwait. Was excited as only one of my kind can understand to train in them tonight. Here is how the night started:

Lots of stretching, leg kicks, etc.

Box squat warm ups: 145 x 10, x 10, 235 x 5, 325 x 5

Went to put briefs on, training partner noticed a hole in the ass that I hadn’t seen before. Small, but all the way through one layer. So here is the rest of the workout, once again gear deficient:

Box squats: 415 x 5, 465 x 3 sets of 5.

I have never done box squats with straight weight as an ME excercise, and tonight wasn’t ME either. But I also haven’t done shit for any volume work, and that third set of 5 was much tougher than I expected. So tonight was almost more of a volume thing. But it hit something that needs work, that is for sure.

GHR 4 x 15
Shrugs 4 x 20 w/120s

one legged leg press 3 x 6

EZ curl 5 x 12 w/115

cable ab thingy 6 x 20

Prowler:

It rained while we trained. Prowler on wet pavement is challenging:

10 x 40 yds x 90lbs, resting just while other guy went, lungs on fire at the end.
