Right now my bench is ahead of squat, proportionately. That is largely due to me having had a sixth month saga getting a decent pair of briefs to work with. Seriously, it is beyond ridiculous. As of Friday a certain equipment maker was sending me pair #4 after UPS lost pair #3. And Texas High School powerlifting season apparently delayed pair #2. Also I had a knee injury that set me back a little. Last fall, single ply straps down hit 655 x 2, and a relatively easy 615 raw.

Ouroboro_s, you’re asking very personal questions. Now I feel uncomfortable.

Slept very little last night, and felt progressively shitier as the day went on. Dumping 620 fried me more than if I had gotten it, I think. Plus still no briefs. So I decided to be somewhat smart and take a night off squatting, and in true Westside fashion picked a GM variation for my heavy work. Meanwhile, other team members got some new gear, so I got to handle plenty of fat, sweaty manflesh trying to squeeze them into polyester. Training partner did get 900 x 2, straps down.

Here was my night.

rackable cambered bar gms. 155 x 10, 245 x 5, 295 x 5, 335 x 5, 385 x 5, 405 x 5. Something like a PR. Bar is wierd. Thick and uncomfortable, rides high on the traps, but then the weight is at your sides. Still, was a break for both hips and shoulders, and my pchain is already feeling it.

leg press, 5 x 15 x 700lbs, tried to do these slow paced, really feeling the quads. Not really. All the weight in the gym was on the squat bar, practically, or on the DL platform, so I didn’t have much choice but to go kinda light.

cable ab thingy 5 x 12-20
dbell shrugs 5 x 15-20

GHR 5 x 15

concentraion curls 3 x 10-12 w/50s
reverse hyper 3 x 15

Prowler 90lb x 45 yds x 10, no break but when partner does his trip.

I really enjoy the gyms I use but I’d love to visit one where that kinda lifting’s going on. The atmosphere alone gotta boost your lifts. Many moons ago when I was able to take a brief shot at powerlifting seriously the world record in the squat was only 900+, pre-Hatfield. Now a guys doing 900 x 2 in the gym. Amazing. Your 405 GMs hurt to think about.

Wow, Meat and Eco sure do have a strange fixation on ‘size’… makes you wonder.

I think Meat and Eco are worried themselves about one of the problems of overall largeness: huge quads, calves, glutes, etc can make other things appear smaller. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

Walked a couple of miles tonight.

Just applied to a couple of jobs on line. The way they have some of those portals set up is straight up retarded.

I’ll buy your theory about big quads and whatnot making other stuff look smaller. That doesn’t explain why my bra looks so petite. It must be my massive shoulders.

CG Bench 3 x 5 w/315. I knew there was no chance of a PR on these, so I went for some volume.

pulldowns, nuetral grip 6 x some, worked up to 300 x 8 at top set.
face pulls 4 x 10-15

Had a training partner today. Dude weighs 175 and can bench 315. Wants to get bigger, stronger. Had him do a million sets of box squats, then bench with me.

Fun training with chains in commercial gym

DE box squat 10 x 2 w/295 + 100 in chains
These felt great, tightest and most explosive I have felt squatting in 6 months

Rack pull, 2 pin (mid shin) 315 + chains x 3, 405 x 2, 495 x 1, 585 x 1, 655 x 2/3. Bit it hard just above the knee. never have lost a weight there. I set the chains up a little different today than last week, that was part of it. The other part is probably the heavy GMs Monday. Also should have gone with a different variant of DLing today too. Oh well, live and learn.
