I was looking at this Glycerlean protein and it says that it’s whey protein that is 8 hr time released. As of now, I have cottage cheese before bed. Would Glycerlean be an appropriate substitute for cottage cheese, or possibly a better solution?
All these nighttime proteins are crap. Read the article at t-mag by Berardi called Bedtime Story. He explains why they’re crap there.
Anything that says “timed release” is a bunch of malarcky!!! Why spend the extra cash when a cottage cheese/whey mix can do the same thing (ie promote protein synthesis=whey, and prevent protein breakdown=casein). Read JB’s “Protein: A Bedtime Story” (or something close to that title) if you havn’t already. It debuncts many of those so called “time release” formulas.
It’s just whey with glycerine added (hence “Glycer” Lean). It slows down absorption.
An acquaintance got some to try, hated it, passed it on to me, and it just made me sick, so I passed it on…
Mr. Reality, just a question. While I understand that the “night time” proteins are crap for what they advertise they do, wouldn’t they be useful as a normal protein soure (if they weren’t overpriced :)?
