^I’ve read about that guy in Ironman magazine. Sick conditioning. He’s like an anatomy chart.

You need to first and foremost have the genetics for deepset abs, sorry for the downer. Second be a heavy weight trainer in general,400+ lb squats, 250+ lb overhead presses. After that do weighted abdominal workwith progressively heavier weights. No 50 rep crunches, think roman chair situps with a plate behind your HEAD.

Most important is being very lean.

thanks guys! great article blacksnake!

so will heavy squats and deads make me “wider” because Im lookin for the washboard thin waist look (aesthetics) not really too blocky like…Jay cutler or somthin lol

Washboard thin look huh, don’t eat.

funny. but not helpful

hehe, my trainer says ive “perfect” abs, thick and deep, ive just a lil bit of work to do to show them off.hehe.

ur 144

im up actually, 148lb now and holding. ive a small frame and only JUST 5.8" lots of people have commented on my muscle layout saying “perfect, if only i was 6” and had a bigger frame my muscles could be in amazing shape."
dont you just hate genetics…

i do lol. Im an mesomorph stuck in an ectomorphs body lol. Im naturally skinny but I gain quickly. I dont blame much on genetics to be honest. and I wasnt dissing you irvs in case you thought so but if you wand to get a bigger frame you can! if you think your big at 148 (and I was there I graduated high school at 130 lol) just wait til you get to 160 or even 170!

i think i look small still for my frame but others say i look good. my goal is 155-160lbs. but hell that will take a LONG time.

Sorry we where replying at the same time,

why will gaining 10lbs take a LONG time?

The “thick” waist look from my experience is something that is mostly genetic. Sure in the upper levels of bodybuilding or powerlifting you will see that, but remember the weight they carry must be distributed somewhere.

The biggest effect on the abs will be your diet. Focus on the relationship between the carbs and the fat you consume. Higher or lower depending on your energy levels. Since you say that you are an ecto maybe you can tolerate quite a lot of carbs. Fats are not the enemy, but IMO they are easier to overeat.

ive always had weight problems throughout my life and gaining any sorta weight is a struggle. but im happy with the way things are as im the fittest ive ever been.

Largely genetic. I have always had the ability to pull the skin between the abs in about an inch with a specific flex, creating a deep relief look. Its just being able flex a certain way.

Heavy lifting, conditioning, low bodyfat, etc. will never allow you to really control the deepness of cleavages between muscles (if thats what you are talking about). I say genetics.

It is good that you are happy but if you want something you have to go after it. No excuses

I laughed.

Seriously. How long have you been reading this website?

Get over it, accept the fact you never had your diet in control, and that is in fact the only reason you ever had a “problem” gaining weight.
