I just found a George Foreman Grill in my house…hahahaah! Never used it but what are your thoughts on it. Anyone consistently use it to cook stuff?
its a fucking godsend
what kind of stuff do you cook on it?
cleaning: pain?
I cook everything on it; meat, fish, veggies. It’s the biggest gun in my nutrition arsenal.
I used to use it ALL the time. I didn’t know how to cook much about two years ago so I needed something. I don’t use it much anymore, because I cook most of my food in stir fry fashion now and just got a little bit better around the kitchen. The clean up was a pain in the ass for me. I still use it now on Thursday mornings (im in school all day on Thursdays) to grill large amounts of meat in 5 minutes for the day. I also cook rice or potatoes, put everything into tuberware and im set for the day. Its a time saver.
I’m pretty much a mirror image of elusive. The cleanup just got to be too big of a pain once I figured out how to pan fry stuff. Although if you put some foil down on it, the clean up is a breeze.
i’ve used it back in my university days, it’s a great product. Not so good for beef coz you can’t get that “char” taste but great for CHicken and Salmon, and fish in general.
Great for veggies as well.

Ditto. Cleaning those things sucks.
what kind of veggies do you cook? i imagine you cant cook spinach on it
i just cooked 2 burger patties, VERY fast. it started smoking almost immediately i thoguht it was gonna blow!
how do you clean the sucker though? it stays hot for like 15 minutes now!
btw how much meat did you cook in 5 minutes??? 0.0
Love the Foreman Grill and had a couple of them over the years. Agreed that some of them are a pain to clean but this one is great: [Canadian Tire] CT: George Foreman Next Grilleration Family Size Grill - RedFlagDeals.com Forums I tried to find it on the Wal-Mart site but it was down and I just wanted to show you which one I personally like. The plates remove so that you can clean them easily, unlike the older ones. Also, try the grill sponge: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LT053M/ref=nosim/?tag=prontocom8428-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000LT053M&linkCode=asn Makes cleanup relatively easy.
Tha’ts huge and pretty. I have some old model, no temp control just the first model i beleive.
There was a method for easy cleaning i found earlier, it’s actually prevention:

anyone ever have a problem with the coating coming off? how quick did that happen and what did you do?
I lived off of the thing in college. Chicken and salmon. Wrapping the meats in aluminum foil helped keep some of the juices in.
Grease trays filled to the brim with fat were damn gross.
I stopped using it also once I figured out how to use a pan.
I’m pretty sure I’ve read in more than one place that the grills have to be replaced periodically if you use them a lot because the coating that peels off is bad for you… but I can’t find anything on it now when I google it. Any ides?
I use mine a lot; I had one without removable grills that I never used. The removable grills are a “duh” godsend.
If you get one, get the removable grills, easy to clean.
I love mine, mainly use it to cook steak or chicken.
i already have the crappy old one sadly, but i think it’s stil lgreat minus cleaning. i will try the parchment paper cleaning method and see how it goes.
how long do your steaks take? i heard if you leave it on for even an extra 30 s it can get really dry

Grilled onions, sweet and hot peppers, i’ve tried mushrooms but cook it by itself a lot of water comes out. Tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, potatoes, sweet potatoes pretty much any vegetable that would taste good grilled (non leafy ones)
You can use the spatula to clean off the residue left behind when it is still hot, comes off easier that way. I used to have a spray bottle that i fill with water to spray it lightly before i clean while the thing is hot. After all the crap has been cleared off, then i let it cool before either 1. running it under the sink iwth soap and water or 2. Wiping it down with a soft cloth or sponge
nice, those veggies are like 1 minute wonders huh?
are you using the removable one? running it under water would damage it?
couldn’t find parchment paper at costco, goin to try tin foil.
