Forget muscle I would choose a fast metabolism. That way I can go on a lifetime bulk, I love the few people that say they have to bulk up for competitions.
i have big shoulders, as in wide shoulders and they seem to grow quicker than anything else, everything else SUCKS!
Anyone who thinks they have shitty calves maybe should look into getting a prowler. I made one a few weeks back and they definetly got stronger, not sure about bigger though.
My pecs suck.
i have little bird calves, no matter how hard i work them i cant pack on mass. genetics wise i wish i didnt have such a sluggish metabolism
I have good calves without really working them. I like my back and quads; shoulders are my weak point.
To be fair, I’m not at a level yet where my limiting factor is genetic. But oddly enough I have all the characteristics I’ve read are good for bodybuilders: short, small joints, broad clavicle, put on muscle fairly easily.

Being an ecto sucks for bodybuilding though…they have a really hard time putting on muscle.

I was under the impression that that was because they usually don’t believe they have to eat more than 2000 calories a day.

It’s because they burn more calories via a higher metabolism, but the tradeoff is that it’s harder to put on muscle…even when they eat more.
^^ I’m one of the endomorphs and I know it doesn’t come down to how much you eat. I have a couple of friends that i damn well know I could sit them down and stuff KFC and ice cream down their throats for months and their arms and legs would stay thin…they probably just get a little gut and they’d have to move all the way up to 34" pants. Well, that and a heart attack.

That reminds me of an article I read about Sean Bradley who was a center for the sixer’s in the NBA years ago. Dude was a beanpole, so when they drafted him they wanted to get him to put on some beef. Nothing worked, if I remember correctly the team had him live with a family who would feed him. They would wake him up in the middle of the night to feed him cheeseburgers, junk food, the works for weeks. He didn’t gain a single pound lol.
Nards, those are awesome calves.
My genetics are OK, I guess. I’ve learned to accept my recessive traits. My age sucks, though.
Ain’t nothing I can do about either one.

My calves are good. I like 'em. I do wish my delts and traps would grow as easily as my legs in general do.
Genetics I am pretty happy with, I just wish i had started lifting heavy younger. I’ve never been all that strong and I wonder If ever will be.

That’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me! Thanks!
To bond james bond:
I’d believe it. I think doctors and nutritionists have said that the mechanisms related to metabolism and all that are not completely understood.
There’s been that bullshit theory that skinny people fidget more than chubby people. C’mon, fidgeting will not make a big guy that skinny…there’s got to be more to it.

I agree it has to do with more than just burning extra calories from a higher metabolism. I have a feeling it’s hormonal, and ties into the way the brain sends messages on fat burning vs. muscle building.
I guess I have pretty good calves, I’ve trained them I think twice in my life and they’re at about 18 inches.
Sorry for crappy pic, I can’t aim my camera at that angle for some reason.
I guess my calves are genetic “gifts” also. They are not small (can’t remember the measurement which is at home). Looking at Debra’s pic, though, and hearing her stats, makes me feel better. My thighs and calves are close in size also and I was worried about how they will look when I’m done with my fat reduction phase (8 months in, lots of pounds and inches lost and muscle gained, but still a ways to go). She has awesome legs so now I know there is hope!

x2
It’s been said a million times, but I wish I knew then what I know now. So many wasted years. ![]()
