Watch this guy-he’s filled with egotism. I noticed how he didn’t even do a “complete” squat, one arm lagged behind another in a press; all sorts of things. Hilarious.
If you’re having a bad day,watch this. You’ll feel better-Trust me.

Why does every kid with a video camera think they need to post themselves across the world wide web? It is like everyone suddenly thinks they are even worth watching just because they exist.
That video isn’t funny at all. I believe he is trying hard. He just needs some guidance. Why would anyone laugh at him? I feel sorry for him and anyone else who thinks they have accomplished something worth bragging about when it is clear they are just starting. There are a few people posting in the picture forum with the same mentality.
Read some of the comments. And you thought Prof X was brutal…
Perhaps you missed it, but his overflowing egotism is what makes it hilarious.
This is what happens when someone comes hear and reads something like:
“You don’t need perfect form. Some people train in the zone that works the muscle more where they can use more weight.”

I don’t’ think he deserves a pat on the back just for showing up and “trying”.
He’s either joking with that video, or he’s trying to impress people putting way too much weight on a bar and is going to get himself hurt.
It’s obvious he’s letting his ego get the best of him.
Why give so many others here the hard, reality-check truth, who are trying, but haven’t gotten much results yet, but give him credit?
Umm… this looks like its a bit of a put-on people!
It’s Youtube, don’t take everything so seriously.
Art is no longer the painter and those who buy his art, it is now the people and those who can stand to look, listen, feel, taste, or smell whatever the hell they’re doing.
But hey; at least he’s not sitting on his ass eating cheetos.

What “credit” did I give him? I say the exact same thing to the people posting here…that they shouldn’t be posting as rank beginners while acting like they really accomplished something. How is that different than what was written above?
I WANT people to make progress. If you think otherwise, then you are the one turned around.
If I saw a kid like this in the gym, the last thing I would do is laugh at him for it. I would pity the fact that he is so full of himself when he hasn’t really done shit, but would largely ignore him unless he asked for help.
What I’m getting at is why there are so many of these types of people lately. they are mostly weak and haven’t really gained much…yet they want all kinds of praise for it. Guys with 14" arms are calling themselves “powerlifters” and talking about how they are about to compete. What the hell is wrong with so many of these people and why can’t you tell the difference between that message and simply tearing someone down?

Someone wasting their time to joke about something like this is worse than this being real.
Did anyone notice his Dips? I wonder if he ever figured out that you’re supposed to “dip” down and use your arms to push back up. Not hop and call that dipping.

I recall reading an article on a technique called continuous motion, constant tension, partial rep. The theory behind it was there was no rest for the muscle during the given lift. No pause at the top or bottom of the lift, just constant tension on the muscle.
That technique reminds me if what you wrote and this guys lifting.
I have to agree, this guy spouted a lot of self accolade at the beginning of his movie and deserves no credit. I mean come on, bends steel? I thought it was a tragedy when I watched it. I didn’t laugh at all and I didn’t find it humorous.

“I believe he is trying hard”. However, you later stated, " I…would largely ignore him unless he asked for help…" So are you stating that you think it’s wrong for us to poke fun at him even though he knowingly posted a video of himself that’s drowned in egotism?
I disagree.

I said I PITY him. I don’t find it funny, I find it pathetic. How many ways does that need to be written for it to be understood?
Most impressive thing in this video, him downing the egg, i just cant do that for some reason, just too damn slimey.
also, i found the fact that he used the nike lifting belt for everything atleast worth a little chuckle.

I never said it was completely a joke. But the way it was presented was certainly meant to be over-the-top, faux-serious if you will.
And yep. It’s pretty pathetic. But hey, the acting wasn’t awful!
I was expecting grade-A teenage douchebaggery- like the kid doing 15 degree ROM preacher curls with 150 on the bar- but this just looked like the average kid at the gym who is trying hard but doesn’t know any better. I’m hoping he just did the video as a class project or something like that though.
If someone taught him how to squat and he took 5-10% off the bar on everything else then he would be fine. There are videos out there that are FAR more ridiculous showing douchebag teenagers demonstrating their inflated egos and warped sense of self in the gym setting.
Why is wearing a sock on his head?

Agreed. He just needs someone to show him what to do…and to slap him upside the head once or twice. If he was 21, then there would be a problem.

continuous tension and partial reps aren’t quite the same, if he went to parellel and never quite locked out the top of his squat, he would have had continuos tension. partials are used for weak points.

I think this is a relatively new phenomena that has become quite pervasive in the younger generation of today’s society. I saw a documentary where college kids who were ridiculed in hazing incidents not only did not object to the video of such events being placed on the internet, but publicized it via YouTube or MySpace.
I suppose it has to do with individuals wanting Andy Warhol’s 15 minute of fame, but desiring it whatever the price. People now have the opportunity to easily be seen by so many others by broadcasting themselves on the web. From the guy on this videos own comments it looks as though he realizes his form is not good, but he desperately wants to be seen.
