New to the forums but a long time reader for T Nation. I ruptured my patellar tendon exactly 4 weeks ago doing a front layout on floor exercise (I’m a gymnast). I I had the surgery for complete reconstruction 4 days later.
I will be starting PT tomorrow but this injury has been quite depressing so I would like to get back on my feet ASAP.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience using TB500 or BPC 157?
I’ve used both for things like inflammation/tendonitis but never surgury recovery. From my experience it works great. You may want to talk to a doctor before though. Def don’t want to have issues or prolong the recovery process.
I live in Canada, which is a communist nation, most doctors here are owned my pharma so I don’t have that option. I purchased them myself and reconstituted them, I’m a nurse so I am quite familiar with med reconstitution. Did you take them together? I purchased them separarely.
Inflammation is your enemy, so I would suppose anything that reduces inflammation would be a positive. But you pain is a signal that you don’t want to mask.
Do you have a sports medicine doctor? He/she should have a good idea on the quickest recovery time in the best of conditions. IMO, don’t try to compress that timeline.
We don’t know your age or bodyweight. Being a gymnast might be one of the most severe sports for the demands of the patella tendon.
I had a friend who severed his patella tendon doing a squat in a powerlifting meet with well over 500lbs. He had been reckless, using lidocaine injections into his knee to relieve the pain. He had reattachment surgery and was able to get back to squatting, but we were not in close communication at the time, so I don’t know the recovery time. (this happened in the late 1990’s)
Apart from a recovery protocol by a sports medicine physician, the only feedback you have is pain. IMO, whatever you do, don’t mask the pain.
