Full Body Workout Plan

I reread all of your posts and you gave him a lot–A LOT–of iso moves to consider or add to his program. So, maybe it’s not me with the inferrence problem. Bottom line here, you will derive much more mass from a program heavily weighted in compound movements than you will one which favors iso’s.

Read it again, son.

I gave him 3 compounds and 2 “isos” as his core programs. “Iso” again is relative. BB Curls and Calf Raises are considered basic exercise by many, probably most.

Don’t give me the “squats build calves” BS, which again only works for the lucky few. Let me repeat: rows, chins, etc. do NOT build biceps for most people.

I contend that I speak for MOST people, while you’re representing a lucky few.

Ab work is just good common sense and rotator cuff work is crucial for many a lifter’s shoulder health, as this pec-heavy lifter will attest.

P.S. Don’t make a statement like that and then follow it up with a bunch of crap.

SON?? CRAP??

Well, don’t let anyone tell you your communication skills aren’t top notch.

The OP said his #1 goal was to add mass. Your response listed calf raises, abs, leg curls, curls forearms, traps, wrist curls…

You are the one who claims that MOST people can’t make solid gains on compounds alone. You are the one who claims long limbed people especially can’t. Why–I have no idea. Once again, the OP is 6’1"–hardly above average to worry about such things.

You are the one who claims there is no difference between chins and lat pulldowns. In fact, according to you they are the exact same exercise. Or in your vernacular AFAICT they illicit the same response.

I’ve said only that for mass, compounds are the best. And this lifter would benefit by modeling his program around them. Shape it any way you want, I don’t agree with your posting. I think your long limbed diatribe was a bunch of junk. I think your list of exercises was an attempt to show what you know, and it just showed me you know a bunch of names of exercises.

Battle’s on

Yeah, I can be a bit abrasive. My point was that “I don’t want to battle” is usually the last statement in a post. Yours was “I don’t want to battle…BUT let me tell you how many ways you’re wrong…”

Anyone would have reacted to that.

I never said that they are the exact same exercise. I still don’t have an answer how they differ in terms of stimulating growth. What’s your opinion there?

Hint: Don’t say “stabilizer muscles” or else I’ll know you’re an idiot.

We weren’t that far apart before and now we’re at totally opposite ends of the spectrum because I called you son? Jiminy, you’re sensitive.

The workout ideas I gave him were built around compound exercises. It’s just that my “around” had more add-ons than yours. Isn’t that our big difference?

Free form BS, but yeah I’ll give you that one.

Actually , I was just trying to help give the guy a well-rounded routine. Really.

Whatever.

Don’t worry guys he is going to follow my advice anyhow.

Well now I’m giving up working out.

Just kidding  It seems that even though ya’ll may have disagreed on a few minor points, the general consensus was that I was overworking. I will cut it down to 2 reps, and maybe stick with 4 days while alternating some exercises. I think eventually I probably will get bored with these exercises and I will want to reasses what I’m doing, and at that time I may bring in squats/deadlift…

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Sorry to bog down your thread with arguements and BS, John. Best of luck to you.

Are you a Texas Aggie? I’m class of '84 myself. [let the jokes begin!]

Later,
Scott

Class of '07 here. Whoop!

My only suggestion is to drop the curls, pulldowns, and military presses. Substitute a superset of pullups/handstand pushups (or leave the military press instead of HSPU). Add food and watch yourself Grow!
