Full Blown Ab W/O Rountine

Hello,
I’m very new at working out. Getting into shape was never really a problem for me, but now I’m trying to play College basketball and i really need to get into shape.

I also want to look good when I put on a swimsuit. So pretty much I want the whole package, sixpack, chest, everything. With the stamia.

Anything tips would be appreciated. I’d also like to add that I frequently started running 1.5 miles per day.

hey any ab workout from CT or King will kill your abs…look for them in the search…

If you’re looking to play ball at that level then your training should be best suited to athletic performance and not changing your physique. That is not to say that training for function (i.e., basketball) can’t improve your appearance, but a typical bodybuilding routine won’t cut it.

You’ll have to lose the mentality of wanting a big chest, huge arms, and great abs. This is a common newbie mistake. Focus on the factors that make you play better (speed, agility, jumping, etc).

A specific example would be Ian King’s article White Men Can Jump

I’ve tried, I get nothing from the people search option. Can I get a link please? I mostly want to get a 6-pack than to make the team. It’s a long shot anyways. Sorry for my newbieness, this is my first time at this.

Here’s some gratuitous self-promotion on my part. There are some programs at the end as well.

One final note: PLEASE don’t think you are going to get a six-pack by just doing the exercises! If your diet sucks, your abs will show little (if any) change. Let me know if you need any help!

Stay strong
Mike

Thanks!

What do you think my diet should be? I’ve really never done this before, weight was never a problem

Sorry, another question. Are sub’s okay for my diet? Their on a tortilla wrap with turkey, cheese and different vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, lettuce.

Oooooooh weeeeeeeee…

Come on bro, that’s a totally loaded question. I would read up on John Berardi’s library of articles on this webpage. I can’t remember the name of the one where he talks about the 7(?) primary rules of eating, but that would be a great starting point. Maybe someone could help us out with a link to that one.

Stay strong
Mike

MOD NOTE: The article in question is called “7 Habits of Highly Effective Nutritional Programs”
and can be found at-http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459493

Thanks Mike, you’ve been amazing helpful.
