Are front squats supposed to hurt? Feels like i’m gona bruise, should i wrap a towel around the bar or suck it up? Am i doing something wrong? I’m not that bony.
It hurts a lot less when you perform them olympic style versus bodybuilding style.

Yes.
Suck it up, buttercup. It’ll hurt for a month or so, but will eventually go away and you’ll be rewarded with the best thigh building exercise imaginable.
I second learning them oly style. I did them BB style for a long time, but never felt stable or comfortable. But I just worked on wrist flexibility until I could do them oly style, and it feels so much better. Front squat went from one of my most hated exercises to probably my favorite.

In any case, front squats are going to hurt somewhat. I actually do get bruises only my collar bone, and on my right shoulder (it has a pointier bone for some reason than my left). I am afraid you will just have to deal with it.

Yeah, a month is about right. You will wonder why you complained about the exercise in the first place. Except for the thigh ‘pain.’. That will always happen but it is a good kind of pain.
I’ve been struggling with half the weight of my back squat due to clavicle and wrist pain (I do them oly style). My solution is to do a light set or two every day focusing on perfect form. It’s already becoming a more comfortable and enjoyable endeavor. Keep at it, it gets better.
Stick with 'em, front squats are an absolutely amazing exercise

Yep, that sounds about right; I was in the same situation a year ago. In a few weeks the pain will subside and you’ll be able to start concentrating on the weight.
Here’s a great thread with plenty of info and tips for front squats, O style:
Wear a thick sweatshirt in the meantime.
Thanks everyone.
