Fortune Favors the Bold

Bench Day -

Another good day. The weights initially felt really heavy, then became manageable once I got to 340#.
I was VERY happy the board presses.

Bench
barx20
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
265x2
295x2
320x2
340x1

2 Board Press
365x3
385x2 - PR +10#
405x1 - PR +30#…tried for a 2nd rep but didn’t have the gas.

Face Pulls
110x12x3

Had a good Halloween. Lots of candy and LOTS of kids came by the house. Now, on to Thanksgiving!

405 for a 2 board? Wow, that is fantastic.

My fav holiday…Actually, all holidays are my fav. Our family is close so we always get together…oh, and of course the FOOD!!!

a 30# PR and he tried for a 2nd…

nice!

Your pressing is looking awesome. Hows the back. You able to squat or deadlift?

Effing hell, great pressing!

Thanks, all. It feels good to be on an upswing again. I just hope it lasts for a while.

Getting 405# down to a 2 board is HUGE for me. I have to say, though, that might be the highest and tightest my arch has ever been. My back hurt after it. And my legs/hips are still sore from pushing into the arch.
I can tell you, that having taken the 405# to that level. If you had removed 1/2 of a board, it would not have gone back up.

No squats or DLs, Steve. I WILL get back to them. Every time I do them, I pay for it. Right now, I am content with my routine and much more focused on the 2 presses. I don’t want to sabotage what is working.
Once I peg these 2 goals, or start on a down cycle again, I will throw in some lighter squats and DLs.

Nice work on the bench, Strick. Really impressive numbers!

Thanks. Again, I just hope that they keep going up. 405# is something I have wanted for over 20 years.

Congrats on the 450 press! I know it was 405, but 450 is coming soon and I wanted to be the first!!! I dont know which impresses more the BIG rowing you have been doing or that press…Ok, BOTH!!

Lol…thanks OG. When I read 450 I had to go back and make sure that i didn’t type that. That would be a pipe dream

Back -

Once again I just went in and played…shooting for some cheap PRs. I wasn’t really into it, because of work projects, the election, a co-worker being fired (she had been begging for it), etc… But I managed to find enough focus for the sets.

Lat Pulls - Wide Neutral Grip
100x15
160x12
210x10
255x3
280x1 - PR +25# - not another pound in me
255x4
210x15 - PR +1 Rep

Seated Rows - Wide Neutral Grip
210x10
255x7 - PR +1 Rep
280x5 - PR +25# - good set

Seated Rows - Close Neutral Grip
280x10
255x10
210x10

That’s all. Felt good. Need some sleep.

you’re kidding right? Holy crap…wide neutral grip rows with 280? please tell me that is a major typo, please!! That is great, great rowin’ my friend… need some sleep? I would need a dirt nap…

Thanks OG. Today is the big day. It is the day that sets the tone for the weekend…Military.

I see a major beatdown for the bar coming!! Hopefully a vid with some good ole fashion anger towards the iron!

Catching up…
Work workouts are inspiring.

Great work lil strick! Serious benching and rowing. your back must be like 4 feet wide

Thanks gents. MJ, back is wide…but not 4’ wide.

Blood sugar was a bit screwy going into this. I felt weak, but it didn’t really show until after the set at 250#. Not complaining, though.
Also, revisited DB Laterals today. Went light (20#). It went okay, but I could still feel it in the elbow. Damned tendonitis won’t go away.

Military Press
barx20
95x10
135x10
175x5
205x3
230x2
250x3 - PR +2 Reps - balance issue on 2 and 3

265x1 - bar got halfway up, energy went, bar dropped about an inch, then forced it up
275x1 - Push Press
185x10

Shrugs
225x20
315x15
405x10x2

Db Laterals
20sx15x2

Weight still isn’t feeling as light as it did when I hit 270#, but I am repping more weight.

That’s what I am talking about…I think if you didnt bang 3 at 250 the following bump ups would have been easy! Great work.

Thanks OG. Here is the video of 265#. You can see when the bottom drops out. Even the setup and rep felt “off”. Probably should have stopped at 250#.

I think I will forego the board presses on Sunday and try to be a bit fresher going into next Thursday.
