Awesome work.
Catching up here LS–
Great work brother!
Effing hell, thats a off the hook set of milies.
That cage is going to crash through the wall one of these days.
Seriously impressive millies.
Nice work there Skipper. (vague TV reference)
Thanks all.
Snap, I have sent the rack crashing into the wall, once. I was doing squats and got waaay out in front. Lost my balance forward and leaned into the back posts of the rack. It leaned over into the wall. No damage, but thank God it was there, or the rack, the bar and me would have gone right on over.
Rug, my parents actually called me Skipper. I dropped the “per” when I hit 9th grade. I went through all of the “where’s Gilligan” stuff. My best friend used to call me “flipper” or “flip”. My Mom and Dad, when actually using my name, still call me Skipper, as do many friends from way back. Some folks even took/take to calling me Skippy. I always suspected that it was to make me seem less intimidating
It’s all good.
Interesting observation about my millies. I do better when my shoulders feel tight. I don’t mean tight as in fatigued and sore, but tight as in snug, secure, not too much room to move or too loose, as in over stretched. When I am in my down cycles, I can feel it in my shoulders. They are loose. When the bar come down it doesn’t feel like much tension is built up. When they are tight, though, and I am on an up cycle, lowering the bar feels like cocking a gun. It feels more stable and controlled.
I need to pay attention to what seems to initiate the migration from loose to tight. Assuming that it isn’t just part of the wave itself.
Bench Day -
As mentioned before, I skipped the board presses, in hopes of being fresher come Thursday. I ended up maxing
That makes it a heavy day, but arguably still less taxing than multiple sets of board presses.
Bench
barx20
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
265x2
300x2
325x2
345x1
360x1 - 1st video
370x1 - PR +5# - 2nd video - you will notice that I caught a cramp in the right hammie
My triceps were still feeling some fatigue from Thursday’s millies. Aside from that, felt like a good workout.
Nice PR skip! and sorry but the response to the cramp made me laugh…
Thanks, SD. It sounds like I say, “ah crap”. Actually, it is “ah cramp”. lol My arch dropped FAST.
Excellent benching, sir!
Yeah, that leg lift was amusing. But your bench is way impressive.
Thats a Big DAMN PR! Way to go Skip!
massive bench skip, great pressing
That is awesome! Great PR. Man, just 30 lbs. from 400. That’s just a little o’l 10 and a little o’l 5er more on each side.
I think Santa will be bringing you a 405 bench for Christmas.
You are posting some HUGE numbers. Are you looking at a comp any time soon?

Why do those 10’s and 5’s feel so much heavier on the bar??

I’ve had more hamstring twinges benching than every other leg exercise put together!
Great benching.
Thanks all.
Snap, it was rather humorous…after the fact ![]()
Jack, just 35# to goal. But I agree with Steve. Those lil ol’ plates weigh a damned ton when they touch the bar.
MJ, I would love to do a comp. I have to get where I can actually squat and deadlift consistently first, though. That is part of the plan, but my back is still staying aggravated, from the bench arch, millies and heavy seated rows. Not to mention, that tight/painful spot on the outside of my upper left thigh is as bad as ever. Stretching and foam rolling doesn’t seem to do anything for it. Might be one more thing I have to get checked out.
FarmerBrett, I concur wholeheartedly. Getting cramps in my legs, while benching, isn’t that uncommon. Much more so than any other exercise.
The really bad ones are when I get a cramp under my chin. OW, that hurts! lol

That spot on your thigh may be associated with the nerve irritation from your back which may imply that your back might have more going on than you suspect. Get it checked out would be my advice.
