Drifted into this workout. What seemed like it was going to be a so-so, just get it done, workout, turned out to be pretty good.

Seated Rows - Close Neutral
100x10
160x10
210x10
255x10 280x10x2 - PR +25# - These were mid power rows (not full power, but definitely some momentum)

It was interesting. I wanted to workout, but wasn’t amped about it. I got in the weight room, cut on the radio, and Pink Floyd was playing. Pink Floyd is NOT what I consider workout music. For some reason, though, it hit me just right…and off I went.
It will be a good trip, driving aside. We have a lot planned for the kids and it will be good to see aunts, uncles and my folks again. I have a feeling that I will need a vacation once I get back, though.
Don’t you always need a vacation when you get back?
When are you leaving on the trip? If it’s soon, today’s workout may make driving super fun.
Regardless, I bet you will all have a blast. There’s nothing like spending time with family to make you remember where you’re from and remember all your ties.
We are going to leave either Friday, after work, or early Saturday morning. I’ll have to see how I feel after work, as it is an 18 hour drive.
It will be a good time. We’ll get to see aunts, uncles, cousins and my folks…as well as the beach, swamp park and the kids will get to play on one of my uncle’s locomotives. My daughter, when she was almost 5, got to toot the whistle, ring the bell and throttle it up and down the tracks a bit. Good stuff…
Plus…proper PORK BBQ!!! I’ll probably even track down some peanuts to boil. Mmmmmmm…boiled peanuts!
The kids will have a blast with all the family getting together and I’m sure after a few drinks you’ll have a good time as well. I love my family and see them all the time but after 2 stiff drinks I enjoy them even more.

I know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately, my mother has a weakness for alcohol. So no adult beverages while I am in North GA. While in South GA, that is a distinct possibility, though, as one of my uncles enjoys his beer.
As long as there is BBQ and some boiled peanuts, though, I am more than good.
Lots and lots of stretching - upper and lower body
dislocatesx10x2
windmillsx10x2
BW Squats - 100
bwx25x4 - made back slightly tweaky again. Got a really good pump from it, though
Rack Pulls - from way high (14")…This was a dumbass move. But, dammit, I needed to lift something heavy.
225x3
315x3
405x3
495x3
500x1 w/20 second hold – back checked out at this point. It is hard to believe I ever deadlifted 500#
Suitcase Carries? - I think that is what they are called…DB in 1 hand and walk
65#x50 yd.x3 per arm - this hit the core well, but absolutely fried the forearms
Back is still shit. I am just trying to keep something going and trying to put my body under some sort of load, even if only 3-4" ROM.
Umkay pardner. I know yer spondy gets things out of wack sometimes and yer IT’s feel like shit most the time. I can relate to some of that.
My issue was stretching the little ligaments that keep the vertebra love’in each other. The reason I made them angry is two fold - I wasn’t stretching my hammies and hip flexors enough, and my core wasn’t ready (or too worn out) for the weights I was trying to heft. Once you stretch a ligament, the erectors flare to keep you from doing more shit to whatever ligaments they support and there are a bunch. Remember, the ligaments are what holds bone to bone. The erectors are the brains of your back… the cops. They are there to protect and serve.
While your back is rehab’in. you might consider some more intense core and stretching work. Eventually it will integrate into your routine.
Just my 2 cents. I don’t have the spondy issue so that probably compounds things considerably which in my feeble mind would say more core hardening and hip/leg stretching needed.
Thanks OP. That sounds like a good plan. Worse case, it doesn’t get any better. But strengthening the core and increasing flexibility is a very good idea…no matter what. I have slacked off on it, but, obviously, I need to ramp it back up.
Back is not as bad, today, as I thought it would be. A nice surprise, to say the least.
Also nice because I have an 18 hour drive, starting tomorrow evening. I am so not looking forward to that.
Oh! And the 500# hold, it destroyed my rear delts. Interesting.
On a side note, I just noticed that I have put up over 3000 posts, and I have only been here for 15 months. I talk too much! So I make my apology by adding to my post total

Most unusual to apologize for being sociable.
Now if you you wrote a lot AND were annoying then we might accept your apology for that.

Is that a hint that I should alter my apology to include being an annoyance?
Or are you just saying?
** I apologize for any annoyance that I might have caused or contributed to. Any such annoyance was completely unintentional and solely the result of my spastic personality.
Wow! I feel better already!
On yet another side note…I can’t decide which I am dreading the most, all the driving that lay ahead or not being able to get in my normal workouts. How sad. Understandable…but sad.

Ironic that you have to post over posting to much isnt it:)

I wonder if that voids my apology!? If I were truly sorry, I just wouldn’t post. But if I don’t post, no one will know that I am sorry. Hmmmm…
Thanks, Pete. It was a crappy workout, comparatively. I got it done, though. Now for a week of recovery!
We are leaving in about an hour. 18 hours of hell. I am not sure how much internet access I will have. I mean, I am going to GA. They (we) didn’t get internet until 2007.
In case I am not on, I hope everyone has a good week! Lift heavy and have fun!
Good luck. I don’t mind driving long distances solo or with buddies, but I have not done a long one with a bunch of kids in a while. I could see how that might get a little hairy. Take care.
