Really outstanding lifts. Can’t remember the last time I did 30 reps of anything. Enjoy the vacation, Skippy
Thanks, OP.
Harry, that is another I haven’t heard in a while. When I was in middle school, I can only guess because of the age of those involved, a few of my close friends started calling me Flipper. Then, as often happens due to lazy southern tongues, it truncated down to Flip.
Skippy cropped up in HS and is still used on rare occasions. It always seemed to me that it came from girls who had an interest in me or smaller guys. I think (and hope) that the guys did it because Skippy made me seem less intimidating. There were a few from the football team, but they were being smart asses.

Was looking forward to today’s workout. And it was a pretty good one. The last set of millies really just wiped me out. I drug through the rest of the workout. Intensity was pretty damned good, though.
Static Stretching
Military Press
barx15
95x10
135x5
165x2
195x1
225x1
245x1
260x1 - PR +5#
135x30 - PR +3 Reps - Several of these were shallow at the bottom. Hey…it’s 30 reps…sue me. 30 reps is too many. I have to do them too fast to get in that many. I am going to 155# next and will move up when I can hit 20 of them.
BB Shrugs - still keeping it lighter to reduce load on the back
225x20x3
DB Laterals
40sx10x3
Rev. Flyes
40sx10x3
That’s it.
Next week is my last week before vacation. I hope to really burn down the house and earn/need my time away from the iron.[/quote]
Damn fine PR. Again, I see about 5-10# more!!!

At the risk of having my ass handed to me, why not. I don’t know how well your millies move up. The way mine go, though, it might be the Christmas after next before I can press 300#. But having a goal and someone to push you is always a good thing.

x2…can I join in? I’m way behind…205 I believe, but I want in!!!(insert tantrum here)!!!Let’s start a race to 300 Standing Military Subject.
Wow, Strick. Pretty incredible. You’re so far ahead and I can’t even see the dust from your wake.

Of course you can. Hell, everyone can join in…except Meat, who can already do it and a few others who, if they can’t, are too close…Harry, Pete, Steve and I am sure there are others.
I’ll give you the honor of starting the thread. After all, it is your idea.
Thanks, sfp. And the reason you can’t see my wake is that I am moving too slowly to make one. But as long as I am moving, I am happy.
Ok, Skip, I’m still trying to get my head around the 30 reps. But its funny though, the rep/max calculator has that at around a 270 max, which is right inline with your current max press (which looked like it went up easy, by the way). 40 reps gets you 315. So you only got ten more reps to go to be even more beastly. :).

I agree. Awesome lifting there. Wow.

Thing is, I really have to blast through them to do so many reps…at the cost of form and depth on some. I think I will go to 155# next time and see where I am.Once I can get 20 at that, I will move up again. 30 is just too many. I will need 22 - 23 reps at 155# to be at the same level…according to the calculator.
Thanks SG. Growing where I can!

What’s wrong with 14-15 reps at 185? I personally think 14-15 reps is a good number to rep out with as a finisher and that many with 185 would look pretty awesome.

Actually, a couple of months back, when I was doing 5/3/1, on my 5’s day, I got 14 @ 185#. Maybe I should go to 175# and work towards 20 ![]()

Im sorry Ruglayer but my mommy said im not allowed to play with you.Besides I dont think a man as small boned as Strict should attempt to go after 300. ![]()
But anyway,Im with "Strict "on the notion of a MP thread to 300. Anyone that wants to can join the party .But it needs to be B.Y.O.B.The only real thing I would like to add that the press needs to be strict with no leg drive. You could be a a-hole and say the press has to be strict how it was when it was still part of O-lifting.But that would be even to much for my taste.
Sounds good, RL.
Bulldog, that sounds like a good plan. No leg drive… Glad you didn’t go for the Olympic rules, because I have no idea what they are
How were they different?

The old rules the feet can only be so far apart plus your feet could not be off set. Plus your not allowed to lean back.

Back in the old old days it was called the military press, because you basically had to stand at attention with feet together and press with no kneebend or layback at all.
Olympic rules permitted layback and quite a few lifters got away with a flash-quick knee bend. That’s how Alexiev beat Redding in the press - in my opinion.
