Yes the guy juices, and yes he ducks fights over here to avoid testing but that’s not really the point of the thread. The point is this dude pounds food down, and if he didn’t whatever he’s taking wouldn’t have had the same effect.

I’m not a doctor, or a dietician, or a health professional, but all I’m gonna say is that poor, broke college students looking to gain muscle and complaining about how expensive food is should not be throwing away egg yolks.
haha yea thats probably true, i just thought making up for the yolks with a few extra whites would be better, seeing as i can eat as many as i need. just wondering if you knew of anything that yolks had to offer.

Yolks house most of the good shit that’s in an egg. And they’re calorically dense. Eat the whole egg.

Over 4 years he gained 20-30lbs? That’s only 5lbs a year, or slightly more. If he needed steroids to achieve that, then I pity him.
This does not mean he gained the weight over a course of 4 years. It was 4 years ago; he’s been fighting at HW for a while. It’s not like he didn’t fight for 4 years and just sat around eating.
You fuckers really think like this?
Does it really shock some of you that a grown man could gain 20-30lbs of muscle in ONE YEAR?
If it does, you suck at this.
Whether the man actually used anything IS FUCKING IRRELEVANT. Those gains are not even “above average” for a serious weight trainer who eats and trains like he does.
What is with so many of you trying this hard to ignore the point of this thread AS WELL AS turn his progress into a negative?
I think he juiced, and it was probably a 50-60lb gain. Maybe he didn’t have to use to get there, but it makes the most sense for me. The guy is not a fucking bodybuilder.
Anyway, it is irrelevant… that’s not the point of this thread, and I don’t think the fact that someone used is a negative. The point is that despite as he says, ‘good genetics,’ the guy eats fucking beef and horse 8 times a day and some people don’t seem to understand that that’s what it takes.

Question…do you think the rest of us who got big DIDN’T have to force feed ourselves to make it happen?
When I was a broke college student, I ate what I could afford. I would rather gain a little extra body fat than make little to no progress by trying to only eat like a competing bodybuilder when I can’t afford it.
Some of you act like you would rather make no gains and turn down that hamburger. Anyone who would do that clearly doesn’t want to get big badly enough.
McDonald’s 99cent menu got me through many nights in college. Is it ideal? of course not…but why waste all of those years of growth because you were so picky you tried to eat like someone who could afford 300 bucks worth of a food every two weeks when you couldn’t?
Eat as well as you can and meet the calorie requirement for the rest if you want this.
No matter what I eat I gain almost no fat, even when I gain muscle. So when I don’t have loads of time I love the dollar menu. I can get 1,500 to 2,000 calories for about 5 bucks and I really like the taste. But I guess that’s just fat me talking.
2 double cheese burgers from bk are a combined 920 cals with 54 grams of protein and 56 grams of carbs. cost of meal: less than it costs just to get into a cab in new york.

I have no target weight. I am just under 280 right now which is the lightest I’ve been in about a year and a half. I was thinking I was dropping too slow because I am only losing about 1-2lbs a week and my strength has actually gone up on a couple of movements…but I guess it just takes time. I personally like being bigger more than I like being ripped but >>>>>I do want to see my abs this year before summer.<<<<<
You say to each his own, but then you make the implicit statement that you can’t maintain a healthy body while eating McDonalds. Dude, most people on here who mention fast food are going to be referring only to the meatiest sandwiches available at a given restaurant anyway. No one said order the meals, just get the double cheeseburgers.
A lot of people can handle a few stops to McD’s a week, as long as they are active and make an effort in the gym. How many stops are okay depends on how healthy your lifestyle is otherwise, and it shouldn’t be that hard for someone to tell. You can go to McDonald’s and eat double cheeseburgers and still be a healthy guy.

Good post.
Eating some hamburgers and then laying your fat ass down with no weight lifting is not what we are discussing.
If you want to get big, being broke sure as hell is not going to hold you back. Nearly every bodybuilder on the planet has been broke at one point…and some of them grew the most during those periods.
I mean, shit I didn’t really out on a lot of weight UNTIL college.

If he’s on roids so what? What’s your point? Many athletes are using “something”. To think other wise is naive. The way he was eating, 20-30 lbs over 4 years is easily doable with out help. Did you actually watch the whole video? Eating about that much every day and training correctly. I wouldn’t be surprised he gained that amount of mass in a few years. You figure that’s all he does is just train, sleep and eat like he mentioned.
He could be on PE’s and I could give a shit. Doesn’t make a difference in my mind. This is especially true in a skill based sport like MMA. Fuck, most of the guys that get caught do so after losing their fights, at least on the upper levels (which is all I follow religiously).
On another note, I personally find his weight gain impressive for an MMA athlete. There are very few guys at that level that carry out a significant bulk (Overeem, Alves). When you take into consideration the amount of skill work they put in, along with sparring sessions standing and on the mat, the amount of food required to fuel gains must be tremendous. Kudos to him.

It sounds like you’re referring to body composition. When I say “healthy,” I mean just that. Feeling good, not getting sick, mental clarity, etc. I’ve got a high metabolism and could probably live off the value menu without getting fat. But I don’t, 'cause from experience every time I eat MickieDs I feel like shit… but I usually have the Big Mac, maybe I’ll try the double w/cheese next time.

This is retarded. Mc Donald’s was only used as an example and could you please tell me why you think someone who eats six times a day is going to “feel like shit” because they ate a damn hamburger? I mean, you do realize that many of us had the “mental clarity” to complete educations more advanced than your own by doing exactly what we are talking about?
'Course I realize that. That’s why I said to each their own. Personally, even when eating 6 times a day, my meal choice does effect how I feel. So that’s why I go with my own preferred meals even though it might take more time and be more $/cal.
All I’m trying to say is that before someone starts making excuses for not being as big as they want, they should evaluate their priorities. If being big is your ultimate goal, then the advice you give, X, is perfect. But there are others, like me, who have a few things they value more than their size… so, obviously, eat according to your goals/priorities.

If you are NOT making gains like that, you suck at this. I mean, damn I gained around 40lbs my first year lifting.
Allow me to explain first and foremost that Overeem is a FIGHTER not a BODYBUILDER. His profession is that of fighting and beating opponents, not gaining weight and muscle. There is even reports from reputable sources that Overeem is on HGH. Overeem To Face Fedor: Over-Juiced, Overrated, and Out of His Mind | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report
Fighting in a Organization such as DREAM and K-1,there are no off Season or On Season like it is in Bodybuilding. You cant just build 40 pounds of muscle in a year like you claim. He has to maintained his level of strength but also speed, agility, technique and stamina and steadily improve. Its extra hardwork to move up in a weight class and at the very heaviest at that.
