FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, im currently studying abroad at cambridge and i need some help with post-workout nutrition. mrps and protein powders are out of the question. as is any type of red meat. i also have very limited cooking facilities. please…i need help. could somebody recommend a high-protein, easy-to-prepare post-workout meal?? i can get all the fruit i want, so i got that covered. the only thing i could think of is eggs. any other ideas?? your help is greatly appreciated. lata!

I take it that you cannot order nutritional supplements from over seas?

Tuna, if you want convenience, go for the pop tops and eat a few of those post workout, with carbs though. Why are protein powders out of the question?

i’m certainly not an expert on this, but i think a big serving of cottage cheese would be effective. i could be wrong, though.

… is partial to 2 cans of tuna or Cottage cheese in springwater thrown into a salad (bought pre-prepared in a bag). Take away options include half a chicken, or 300 grams of beef, and some steamed or stir fried veges or a salad. Roughly you need 30-40 grams of protein and 60-80 grams of carbs but no fat (so no egg yolks).

nate, i assume you mean Cambridge England?, if you do then supplements aren’t that expensive (compared to america they are) but for protein powder there are a couple of choices,1. look out for bulk buying clubs at gyms, if you can’t find one then i’ll give the address of the one we use in Leeds 2. watch out for half price sales at holand and barret where you would get a kilo of ion whey for £10, or ask the manager nicely if you could buy supplements on o.a.p day and get there discount (just explain that you will be putting regular business his way).

thanks for the help guys. im probably gonna go with the tuna. in terms of cost and convenience, that may be best for me.

stu, thanks for the info. im only here for six weeks, so ill check out the town some more & maybe i can find a small jug of whey. thanks again guys.

Nate, there are a few health food shops in Cambridge. There is a pretty good Holland & Barrett that stocks a decent Whey and its half price at the minute. Forget about Biotest supps, as shops dont stock them as a rule in the UK. If not try a couple of Tuna sandwiches!!
Welcome to the English weather, and believe me you are welcome to it!!!
