Flex Wheeler

Even de-trained, both of those guys looked good and better than most people at my gym.

Found this vid that I thought was one of the better vids on youtube to showcase Flex’s thickness and symmetry as whole.

wtf does he have an 8 pack :frowning:

AWESOME.

Q: If you could give us just one piece of advice on training, what would it be?
FW: [Pausing, considering his reply] That’s pretty hard to say, but really, what I’d tell you is this: Get your butt in there and do it! Stop sitting around, stop talking and asking questions, stop saying that you’ll come in later. Do it and stop BSing around.

This advice applies to everything - like some guys complain that nobody tells 'em anything about diet. Stop asking questions and go find out how to eat. Get a book. You don’t need to sit around and be pissed off because nobody’s helping you. Get out there and do something for yourself.

What you need to realize is that bodybuilding is an individual sport. It’s all individuality – that is, centered around and dependent upon one person: you. You have to train, you have to diet, you have to get onstage in front of the judges, so assume responsibility and do whatever it takes.

I am not one for these ‘this dude rules’ threads, but I have to get in here 'cause this dude RULES!

One of my all-time-favourites. Every bit as engaging and inspiring as that Austrian dude in every-other-posters-avatar.

This portion of the interview I quoted here should be bitch-slapped onto the forehead of every new kid, in Weight Training.

My Uncle/Mentor said basically the same thing over and over again, the more accomplished guys on this site, do the same, Arnold, did, Dorian, did, anyone half-way-worth-a-shit says this. This is it. This is quote is it.

You gotta, do this yourself. And if you suck, or rule, it’s all you motherfucker.

ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY…WHATEVER IT TAKES, God damn it all.

Long live Flex!

Definitely the kind of symmetry i’m looking for.

On the video where flex is performing leg press … did i hear correctly when he said that his thighs are 32.5 inches on a 28 inch waist ?.. wow!

I’ll stand by my earlier statement:
If Flex were to compete in the Olympia this year in the same shape he had in his prime, he’d win it.

That motherfucker is as close to perfect as it gets.

Buying pants can’t have been easy.

Great vid. I paused the video a little before that part where the lights turn on behind him, and when I came back and resumed his silhouette looked like he was wearing shorts… then I realized those were just his legs.

One thing I always liked about Flex was the way his shoulders tied into his arms. It’s been said a million times before, but he really is well put together.

His physique is the best I’ve ever seen, the fact that he never won Mr. O simply blows my mind.

Agreed. Amazing physique.

There are some up and coming guys in the sport that remind me of Flex. It’s an exciting time for bodybuilding.

Not to mention guys like Cedric McMillan that remind me a lot of Haney.

I think towards the end of his career, the use of synthol in certain areas just became so evident that he screwed himself over. If you look at some of the later pics, you can see ‘odd lumps’ (always pointed out by flex writers) in rear delts or other smaller bodyparts (never bought into Shawn Ray’s whining about calf implants though, some people are just haters -lol)

Any pictures of this?

I don’t consider myself an expert in spotting out synthol usage, but I’m not unaware of it’s effects, and I have seen a lot of pictures of Flex Wheeler. If he did use synthol, he did a great job of it, but I doubt that he did.

There was a lot of whining about how his shoulders blew up for the olympias, but we can’t forget that this is probably the most genetically gifted bodybuilder in decades… eating a perfect diet… already using super supplements… and being trained by Charles Glass personally.

Amazing results don’t seem suspicious to me when the circumstances that produced them are just as amazing.

I only remember seeing him use it in his rear delts. he was NOT someone who used that much of it. His rear delts were lagging so he used it there, I never saw any strange lumps anywhere else.

The man was about as close to physical perfection at his peak as you can get. If anything, he screwed up trying to hang with the real mass monsters. Flex always looked better when he was weighing about what Phil Heath was before he blew up.

Exactly. He had the best shape, full muscle bellies, small joints out of anyone. if he had been up against any other Mr. Olympias but Ronnie and Dorian, he’d have walked away with the title.

I dont think its right that guy that have previously used AAS claim to be natural later on due to muscle memory there was a thing about a kiwi bloke last year claiming to be all natural since he left jail…it’s just a little odd[/quote]

I agree, sorta unrelated but you just reminded me, how arnold said he was the same size( probably not) in terminator 3 as he was in terminator 1, when he is said to be against steroids now. If its true then how did he get to the same size, he has to be lying about one or the other. Not that see anything wrong with him juicing or even denying it, just don’t like him going out of his way or going with the flow without he lies.

?? What lies? The man is in his 60’s. Most men probably NEED HRT by that age so even if he did use steroids, how did he do anything wrong?

Further, why the fuck would it matter?

You do realize that people can use testosterone LEGALLY?

Why do some of you care so much? Are his gains holding YOU back?

Every time I see Brandon Curry I think he’s the 2nd coming of Flex Wheeler. Unreal muscle fullness and symmetry.

Ill try to keep this short so this thread doesnt get derailed. Arnold in T1 was NOT as big as he was when he won 5 straight MR Os. Arnold in T3 wasn’t even close to the same condition that he was in T1. So he may have weighed the same but weight is just a number.

And people need to relax with caring about the “Natural Freak” tag. It’s just a marketing ploy to sell supplements. Who cares really?
