One study conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine found that taking 20 capsules of MaxEPA a day (180mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA per cap) resulted in a 12% reduction in cholesterol and a 40% reduction of triglycerides (Bad) with a 5% rise in HDL (Good). In contrast, many of you have mentioned that in his seminars Charles Poliquin recommends 9 capsules of fish oil a day. My questions are these: is there any reasoning behind Charles’ magical number of 9 or is it just an arbitrary number? Secondly, if one is going to take 20 caps a day, for simplicity sake is there any disadvantage to taking all 20 in one setting? Finally, does putting the capsules in their original container in the refrigerator harm the oil in any way? Thank you in advance for the replies.
