EFA's

John Berardi and Bill Roberts have said plenty of times that you need between 6-10 grams of EPA/DHA’s every day. My question is how many meals should this be split into. I have to take 30 caps for the brand I use and I was wondering if I should take a couple at every meal, all at once, etc. For example, I always eat a steak as my last meal of the day and I have a feeling that I shouldn’t eat all 30 caps with the steak but if it does not hinder absorption then why not. Any input is appreciated.

i split mine into two dosages of ten capsules. sometimes if im home during the day ill take another dose of ten capsules.

What exactly is the reasoning for such a high dosage? What studies have shown it to have a great effect?

I split up my fish oil intake over my P/F meals. This is more to prevent major fish burps than to maximize absorption. If I were you, I would split your caps over your P/F meals over several meals if you don’t follow Massive Eating.

Thanks for the help guys. Roman, the brand of fish oil that I use requires me to take 30 caps to get 10 grams of EPA/DHA. That is why the dose is so high. Some brands have more EPA/DHA per capsule but that is what I get for paying $8 for a bottle of 300 caps. I usually eat 3-4 P+F meals everyday so I’ll divide it accordingly. Thanks again guys.

Vitamin World has High EPA caps with 300mg of EPA and 240mg of DHA…this may help you cut down the number of pills required.

FYI - Sams Wholesale has 300 caps for $7 plus it only takes 20caps to get 6 g epa/dha

Roman, search for the article “A Lean, Mean, Fat-Burning Machine” in the T-Mag archives.

Thanks

Without running the risk of sounding incredibly stupid: Do Fish Oil Caps contain any calories?

Just like any oil, fish oil contains 9 calories/gram. The caps I take contain 1 gram fish body oil and are 9 calories each.

Jason, what you said makes soo much sense… its scary  I guess I should have had a V8 (slam to the forhead).
