^Nice
You aint seen nuthin yet ![]()
I was meant to peak deadlift in three weeks and this was meant to be a set of 3 along the way. Bit miffed about that, but I’ve at least got the pull now. May go for it again before the end of the year without folding in half at the bottom.
You’re the man MaazerSmiit! Way to keep this alive unlike the rest of us (we should be ashamed…)
Great way to round off the year. Well done ![]()
Quite jealous of the overhand DL.
Awesome Maazer!!! blew the Squat away!
To end the year off I think I can nab the Squat and maybe the DL goals for the thread.
Bench is just giving me issues
and OHP I’ve all but given up on!
Completely forgot about this haha. All lifts done at a body weight of 190 lbs.
- 140kg/308lbs Bench —> Finally got 315 lbs
- 180kg/396lbs Squat → 445 lbs x 4
- 220kg/484lbs Dead → 530 lbs x 3
- 90kg/198lbs Military Press → 205 lbs x 1
Thanks guys, I was surprised by pretty much everything yesterday, it all just came together really well.
I don’t think I have the bench or OHP by the end of the year, but the deadlift is there on a good day.
Diddy, it’s hook grip lol, I’d love to be able to hold onto 5 plates double overhand, but I’ve never gone above 190kg.
Nice progress Grizzly especially since you spent a good part of the year dropping weight.
Nice lifting GrizzlyBear!

Greetings Gentlefolk. Just completed testing my last two tests of the year on the 26th.
My goals for the year were 1,2,3,4 plates per side for Press, Bench, Squat and Deads respectively. Previously in the year I hit 135 for Press and 315 for Squat. I did not get video’s of them as they were spontaneous tests at the time. Hopefully you will trust me on those.
Here is a video of me hitting a 20lb PR on deadlift from this time last year. 385 is not 4 plates per side but I did increase. For reference, I don’t have 8 45lb plates so the bar is loaded with 10,45,45,35,35 per side.
And here is the 225 bench. This is a 40lb increase from this time last year. Quite pleased with this. I have always felt weak with the Bench. I am certainly not strong yet but hitting 2 plates was a big milestone.
Eff I really think I have the DL in me, and maybe the Squat, but I passed up on testing my maxes because of a little injury I had to my delt/bicep area.
Gawd this makes me want to just try it… eff
Also, nice work Grizz and Needa!
Nice one Needa ![]()
I got the deadlift a couple of weeks ago but forgot about this thread. Hit 227.5kg/500lbs for a pretty easy rep, then 230kg a week layer for a grinder.
Been a while, but closer to the goal.
Deadlift 575lb with straps. Haven’t tried to max anything else yet.
Been trying 5/3/1 for about 4 months now, 505lb without straps, fairly easy. My grip won’t hold out for more reps yet, but afterwards I hit my 575. Did a car/rickshaw dead of 920lb, my trap bar dead is 700, both without straps to keep training and testing grip.
May post video once I get over my hangups about posting videos.
Edit: I know this thread is old, but so am I so it took me a while

Wait what? You can deadlift 700 fucking lbs on a trap bar without straps, but you can only get 500x1 on a regular bar without straps? Is that a typo? I have to see videos of these lifts if that’s true.

I could see that being possible with a high handled trap bar and a really crappy commercial gym barbell with no knurling.

If there was literally zero knurling, I could maybe see that. That would be like the perfect storm of things, but I suppose a gym like that may exist. The only gyms I’ve been to that have trap bars also have at least a few good straight bars. For myself, I’ve never deadlifted more than 585, and I can deadlift 505x10 without my grip failing. Although that being said, grip is never an issue for me. I don’t really have a point of reference on the trap bar since I never use one, so perhaps this is where my perspective comes up short. Holding 700 lbs on a trap bar may be easier than I’m imagining it to be.
High handles on the trap bar. Also, I only really started NOT using straps a few months ago. Like, 15 years ago, there was an article in Flex where Ronnie Coleman said he used straps to not limit his back growth to his grip. So since then, I used straps for heavy work (even light work like pulldowns).
So I guess ego made me not want to fail all those years.
Anyways, I really feared my numbers going down, but this year I started doing grip work, etc. 5/3/1 started like 3 months ago has my training max fairly low, so I’m trying without straps.
I guess I post the rickshaw video once I figure out how.
