Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

At least you had him pick up the tab. That’s my girl =D

I think I know what you’re talking about. Pullover presses?

These?
If so, they’re awesome. Among my fave tricep exercises. It’s a major compound movement so I don’t do it as much as I’d like to though, to fatigued to do any weights of use. But they’re awesome.

That’s a big improvement. Seeing how he said something not-so-nice about your jeans before.

Amen.

Guys also like to tell me about how bad the arch is. Just smile and wave lol

I might try to go to the meet and watch but I can’t enter because you need a 2010 or 2011 total to qualify.

He actually tried to pull the chiro card on me and tell me that my arch was dangerous for my spine… he’s a medic, former world class TKD champ, former trainer, and apparently an ASS! He should fucking know better! We had a brief discussion that ended with my sincere request for him to keep his opinions to himself. I’ve been doing my own thing for too long for him to boss me around. The tone of the rest of the session was better.

Much sympathy on the bad bench advice. Good for you for telling him to get lost.
Please consider going to watch the meet. I met pmpm, snap, and soldog at the first one I went to watch and I enjoyed every minute of it.

loling at your gym antics. good on you for telling him where to get off! i managed to catch some mma fighting on tv last week. found the bjj component really interesting. the kicking and punching in the head and grinding the face up the cage aspect, not so much. congrats on your bench!

Man, I overheard my friend telling his step dad that the dad’s son (maybe 15) shouldn’t be lifting because “he’ll stunt his growth like I did; I’m shorter than my dad and I know it was from lifting at 18.” I fucking laughed and wasn’t about to get into it with him. I just hate having to defend my view point these days.

Lol! Nothing good can come from a resurgence of an ex, i tell ya! But that’s just me. I’m glad you put him in his place though. And you never know, maybe with time you can cultivate a good friendship? And anyways, nothing is better than free food. NOTHING!

Nice training, chica. Stout BP and 50 on the incline press is awesome.

Nice rowing too! Those pullovers look wacky, but they do look like they’d hit a lot of different muscles…

Keep killing it, mama!

Thanks Sugarbuns! Actually, these are the pullovers that I was doing… minus the air-humping that the dude in the vid is doing.

arachne- Yeah, whatever on other people’s “advice” and I definitely want to check out a meet sometime soon.

alexus- Bench is feeling great. I used to feel the same way about it as you did with squats. Now we’re both learning to love our not-so-favorite lifts. Next stop: decent DLing. And LOLing over our antics was probably happening IRL too. We were in a crowded gym at 10 am. Since he has been retired for years I have never actually seen him in a match but I can only imagine. I think combat sports are cool but I can’t imagine doing that stuff myself. Kinda how I feel about baseball too. I am an appreciator.

Ponce- That is some funny shit. People actually believe that. Sad.

Maschy- Free food FTW-- especially diner food! I was stoked over all of benching. I have never put up the 50’s on an incline press either. Felt great. Not sure that a ‘friendship’ is in the cards, but we’ll see. And see the vid above… if only for the lulz of the dude thrusting away at the air!

kmcnyc- Oh, sorry I missed ya! Thanks. Funny thing about ball sports isn’t it? I actually played HS lacrosse. But I was a defense player so I specialized in body-checking and generally crashed into the other girls, quickly scooped up the ball and winged it to somebody else. LOL. No racquet sports for me either and forget about baseball, softball, etc. I have been known to play wiffle ball on occasion at picnics but that’s about it. Volleyball is an utter disaster. Being short really sucks then!

How short is he? What weight class does he compete in? I’m guessing this is TKD, and NOT MMA, as constantly going for headkicks is retarded. It’s a good way to get knocked out. Solid training, Veg. Always an inspiration.

We’re roughly the same height. MAYBE he is 5’3" and due to not eating since I broke his heart he is down to 150ish… WHOA, I’m currently 140ish!!! Anyway, yes. TKD, not MMA. He mentioned that he might do some MMA in the future. But his background is classical in nature. Trained at the olympic training center and in Korea. Somehow I don’t see him grappling very well if he tries the MMA thing. Isn’t a lot of that fighting more wrestling BJJ type shit?

It involves all of it, so I would suggest he cross-trains in other disciplines before stepping in the ring. I trained in TKD for two years in Korea, and while I like some aspects of it, it doesn’t translate well to real-life fighting. Not even for MMA.

And you needn’t worry about being 140. You put many females to shame. Complete shame.

I saw the name on the video and knew what you were talking about. But you mentioned air humping so I had to play it =D
Uhm but yeah, I share your “eh” sentiment with the exercise.

Congrats on the first time pressing 50s.
Kinda funny how that day will stick with you forever.

Yesterday’s training/legs

Warmup- usual wall squats, spiderman crawls 10x4 each, some static stretching

Squat- barx5, 115x5, 135x5, 155x5, 185x3, 205, 210 FAIL- wasn’t letting it go, 210 FUCK YEAH!, 185x3, 135x5… Not sure why I did the last set!!!

RDL- 135x8, 185x6 FML, right wrist pain. Did way too much manual therapy on Wed at the office. Oh well. I hate it when work screws with my training!

So I moved on and tried some GMs…

GM- 135x10, still bothered my wrist.

I was relegated to doing some machine prone leg curls. I hate those. Did a few sets and got the fuck out of the gym.

Yesterday was bloody hot and I had zero appetite. Hoping that I can eat well today to make up for it.

That video was mildly disturbing. Some grunting, heavy breathing, and straining sounds would have totally made it.

Arch is bad? Assisted pullups? Ugh. Sounds like your ex is as bad as one of those random guys at the gym that want to pick up the weights so don’t have to strain yourself, give unsolicited advice, or grab the bar as soon as what you’re doing requires a little strain when they spot you. lol. What we will put up with for free food…

Nice work on the PRs! I haven’t put up the 50s yet on incline, but I have my eye on you… Once my training changes again Ima get 'em.

i bet there were lolz for the other people in the gym at the time
i didn’t know that you felt that way about bench. i guess i just thought you were kinda superwoman and didn’t have a particular nemesis. glad to hear you are starting to feel better about your bench.
i want to learn bjj one day. kinda badly actually…

bit of a $ outlay for the required gear and for the classes, though, and i can’t afford it right now.
i’m also a lot nervous about how i’ll go with the close personal contact side of it.
i know i’ll be the only girl.
but find the scariest things for me are often the most empowering. one day…

hope your wrist comes right soon.

Training with the ex doesn’t sound like a good time…

say, how long does your share of veggies last til you pick up more? Do you supplement at other farmers markets between?

Nice bench and squat!!! Looking very good.

Awesome job on the squat pr! I know how you feel after the fail. “I’m not going home until I put this thing up”. And lol at your training antics with the ex. That’s always awkward turtle time.

Congrats on the bench and squat prs! Very solid training.

Nice lifting, Veg - those squats are pretty awesome.

Hope the wrist is OK - I’ll add my recommendation for a Powerball to you as well. It really helped my carpal tunnel.

cudos on the recent bench and squat victories
