Also trying to catch up with posting my training before I go do my leg session this afternoon. I trained with an old lifting partner. Oh hell, whatever!!! Honestly, I let my ex come meet me at my gym and train with me. He was DYING to see me and I needed a reliable bench spotter. It isn’t like I hate him, I just can’t be his girlfriend or fuck him anymore. Bonus: He fed me after the gym both days!
Monday June 6/Chest and abs
Warmup- bench width pullups 5, 4, 3 (Ex tried to “assist” on the 2nd set and I almost kicked him… “back the FUCK off” or something like that came out of my mouth), shoulder dislocates, bradfords with the bar
BP- 75x5, 95x5, 115x5, 125x4…FAIL on 5th! *** Rep PR right there.
I knew I could put up more reps if I had a spotter to make sure I didn’t pin myself! We got into a tiff after the 1st set because he didn’t like my new (since we haven’t trained together in ages), non-BB bench setup! WHATEVER. I told him: LOOK you’re not my boyfriend or my trainer.
He actually tried to pull the chiro card on me and tell me that my arch was dangerous for my spine… he’s a medic, former world class TKD champ, former trainer, and apparently an ASS! He should fucking know better! We had a brief discussion that ended with my sincere request for him to keep his opinions to himself. I’ve been doing my own thing for too long for him to boss me around. The tone of the rest of the session was better.
Moving on…
Incline DB press- 45x8, 50x8, 4 (to failure)
Cable upward fly- 10x3, his thing not usually something I would do…
Bench DB fly- 20’sx10x3
Partner abs on mat- oblique crunches where partner sits on your legs, you lay on your side and come up 15x4 each side WHOA!!! Then prone back extension on the mat with partner on your legs 20x3.
Wasn’t sure if I would be able to move the next day after the ab routine, but I actually didn’t get DOMSy at all?!?!
Tuesday June 7/ Back and tri’s
Warmup- some random mobility shit
BB row- 118x8, 138x5x2, 148x3x2
Failed attempt to use hooks while doing DB rows. I got so frustrated that I did a few with some chalk after umpteenth tries with the hooks and I started getting angry so I moved on… My hands are too tiny to wrap around the DB + hook. FUCK!
HS wide pulldown- 140x8x2, 160x8
Pullovers on bench, perpendicular set-up- 40x7, 7, 10
I never do these and tried them at his suggestion. Took a while to get used to the motion but I like them alright I guess.
Skullcrushers (with a hand-off for a change)- 68x8, 9, 10 little assistance on the last rep
Dips- 7 + 12.5 DB between feet, 3 + 12.5 drop then 2 BW, 6 + 12.5
Done
After that I helped him with some plyo-medicine ball catching drills. Did I mention that I suck at throwing and catching balls? He is training for a fight and as a very short individual, he spends most of his time jumping to kick his opponent in the head, etc. Fucking savages. No offense to all of you martial artists.
We went to the diner after the gym and I told him that I wasn’t sure that training together was a good idea. We basically had a good time minus the arguing but I don’t want him to think that I’m going to take him back just because he patted me on the head for training hard, etc. I’ve been doing that on my own for my own reasons and I don’t need his approval.
And as a side note: He also commented on how much he liked how ‘big’ I’ve gotten. Seriously…
Off to the gym for my leg session BY MYSELF! I like lifting alone. If it wasn’t for the occasional need for a spotter that would work just fine for me indefinitely.
