Hey Veg! Tri’s are poppin’! Looking good.
Sorry about the work stress! I know you’re managing well, and since your work is to help people, I feel like you have the added stress of having to be nice despite the fact that you want to rip someone’s head off. Thank god for training!
And your training is looking awesome!
Nice to see you putting up some big numbers - do you think the GVT will translate to strength gains? Like does volume translate to an increase in weight?
Super jealous of your WG pullups btw! Awesome!
As for the bf. I hope that works out one way or another! 5 years is a long time. Getting laid is important to ones physical and mental health. lol!
love your t-shirt! i’m glad there are morning people, though, because otherwise the gym would be more crowded later in the day. thought that might be a chocolate eclair… guess not. i think you should do what you want re the guy. if it suits you to meet up with him sometimes then why not. sorry to hear about your receptionist troubles. hear good (reliable and efficient) ones are pretty hard to find these days.
if your going through hell just keep moving…
(yes, thats a country song, lol)

Especially in the Dirty Thirties. There was a Swedish study done to confirm this. The results…well, it was done, just trust me.
Your tris are sick, lady. As FOB mom would say, “They have fever!”
And was that a cannoli? Pretty sure I saw a cannoli. Goddamnit, I miss them from Mike’s in Boston. They’re like nuclear fucking reactors of stored calories. Yum.
That was definitely a cannoli! I think I’m making some this weekend ![]()
Veg your training is so awesome…the numbers you put up inspire me so much. And your pics…well, they inspire me in different ways ![]()
Awesome pull-ups Dearie.
Awesome workout in general. I love to see you do your thang.
Love the pic, my wifey is such a hood rat ;D

You watch your fucking mouth, there, woman!!! As a native New Yorker, almost everything about Jersey is dirty!!!
Nah, cannolis are one of the very few things to bring me to my knees. And like you, if they have chocolate chips in 'em, I’m done. Good stuff in here, and keep doing you.

Exactly…
I giggled at defending the squat rack. I don’t know what it is, but lifting and food brings out my selfish nature, and I don’t care! I’ve stolen the bench from some guy setting up a ridicules super duper super set that included like 5 different stations. :-PPPPPP And I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Hopefully the non-ex boyfriend thing sorts itself out
you’ll figure it out.
HAHAH! Not the lifting, but the food - totally turns me into a growling wolverine. Don’t even try to steal food from my plate! I WILL stab you.
Have a great weekend Veg!

That is why you eat with your elbows flared out, to ward off evil predators…
BG- Love the new avi. So very appropriate for our forum! As far as being picky and weird about food… we all are in some ways!
Kalle- I went veg when I was 12. My bit about straps goes something like this: Kid: “Have you ever used straps?” veggie: “Yeah, but they don’t do anything for my grip strength and that’s more important to me.” Pretty lame, but I try not to get caught up in random conversations with people in the gym anyway.
Masch- Yup, my job requires being nice to people while they complain about stuff. Folks can be downright nasty when they’re in pain. I’m used to sucking it up and dealing. As far as GVT = strength gains, not really. Some lifts look better but overall it is not a strength/power focused program. I think my WG pullups are better because I’m a little lighter again. And I will file the “growling wolverine” comment away for future reference in case I’m ever eating with you!
alexus- That shirt rings very true for me. I really prefer to lift later in the day. The staffing situation at the office can only get better… at least that’s what I’m sticking with in my own head so that I don’t get militant at next week’s staff meeting.
MiM- Thanks. Just keep truckin’, right?
Ponce- Dirty 30’s and cannolis FTW!
OmO- You make cannolis! WOW! I’m inspired by you. Baking is not my thing. Thanks for the kind words about my training. Doing what I do… And glad you like my pics.
Nikkibaby- Thanks. Guess my gym attire is a little 'hood rat!" I’m bipolar when it comes to gym clothes.
Beast- Jersey is what it is… I’m sure that NYC has some amazing cannolis too, just haven’t had one up there in a minute.
Stronghold- All of the things that people think/know about NJ are true and then some. Seriously, there are some beautiful and unexpectedly pristine areas of the state. FWIW I claim Jersey by choice. I sleep on the other side of the river again these days and am a native Pennsylvanian. However, I identify with NJ more than the Commonwealth and I spend most of my waking hours in the Garden State.
Charlie- Defending the squat rack is pretty easy. I just give people a really mean look and they go away. Did it again yesterday to some guy and his son! I don’t care what people think anyway… they can think that I’m a bitch.
Max- You and Masch are animals! I never get defensive over food but now that I think about it maybe nobody wants to eat what’s on my plate so it probably isn’t necessary.
I took Friday night off and decided that sleeping and eating would be more productive than rushing through a session. Gym closes early on Fri and I didn’t get home from the office until after 8pm. I also had searing head pain all over the left side of my head/face all day. Not fun. Got it straightened out and rested up.
Saturday training:
Hiked around the park with the dog for an hour. Found ticks on me, etc. NICE.
Napped. Went to gym. Legs and conditioning:
Warmup- ususal wall squats and spiderman crawls.
Squats- barx5, 95x5, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 205, 205, 185x5
RDLs- 185x5x2 That ripped callus is a bitch!
GM- 135x5x3
SS: walking lunges w/35’s/KB high pull, 35- 20/20, 20/20, 20/18
That conditioning SS at the end of the session pushes me over the edge! I felt like I was dying and I also managed to get a nice wrist bruise from the DBs. Very attractive. I think deb made a comment in her log about them looking like handcuff bruises. Lol. It totally does. My bestie told me that I need to get the fuzzy handcuffs when she noticed it at dinner last night.
uhhhh, I hate those critters(ticks)
strong fucking squats…
damn
fml
I can’t claim NY, really. I haven’t set foot there in 16/17 years. Just givin you shit like I give my older brother.
Re: straps, my answer was the same when I was asked about my lack of them.
Re: squat-rack, since there is only ONE FUCKING RACK in the post gym, when I arrive, I tend to run folks out of there as well. Sometimes nicely, most times not-so-nicely. Good stuff in here.
good job on the pullup PR Veggie - hope the searing head ache/pain has done it’s time.
RDL’s with 185…damn. That is a strong effort!
MiM- Yeah, HATE ticks. I flush them down the toilet when I find 'em! And thanks. I <3 squats!
Beast- Not using the straps til I really have to… And even I might run away from the ONE squat rack in your gym if I saw you coming!
Frenchie- Thanks. My head is perfect again.
Kimba- Yup, RDLs are one of my all-time favorites. Would have been repping more if it wasn’t for that ripped callus ![]()
Sunday training: chest/shoulders
Warmup- pullups 5, 5; shoulder mobility stuff, bradford presses with the bar
BP- 75x5, 85x5, 95x5, 105x5, 115x2x2, 120, *feeling strong and a lot left in the tank so… 125, 125**PR
I can TASTE that BW bench. I haven’t benched since Tuesday so maybe the extra rest is what made the difference. Don’t know but I am stoked!
Incline DB press, one arm- 45x5x3 each arm
MP- 75x5, 80x3x2, 85x2
Upright row- 78x6, 6, 5, 6
Seated rear delt fly- 15’s x 10 x 2
Rolling med ball pushups (feet on step w/7 risers)- 10x3
Done
The sun rises and sets. The sky is blue. Water is wet.
And veggie lifts.
Hope your weekend was good. I have a sick track for you, I’ll have to upload it and share the link. It’s one of those long tracks.
