Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

I have nothing important to add. Here’s a lolcat.

I don’t think it’s a mistake that you’re meeting up with your not-ex bf??? 5 years is a long relationship, if he’s trying to do better than that’s what matters, right?

That is an awesome chest/shoulders workout.

Just caught up with your fast-moving log. Best of luck with the bf situ.

Sometimes when I need a little motivation, I think of how you kill it in the gym. It will be interesting to see what you do post-GVT!

Incredible start to my day. Planning to lift this afternoon after some obligatory office BS/meeting/paperwork. I can only hope that it ends as well. My not-ex bf has made a concerted effort to win me back and has offered, amongst other things, hotel sex for tonight. Not sure if I’m making a mistake and maybe I’m being a little selfish?!? But at least I’ll get laid. And I’ll get stretched out after all of the running and training today. Not a bad deal… for now.

Get laid first, worry about it later. Never hurts to be selfish every once in a while, plus it’s on neutral ground so there’s no official walk of shame :stuck_out_tongue:

I see you’re done with GVT, I have one more week, then I do a cycle of 5/3/1 which is great coz I’ve missed my sprints and suicides

Are you following any specific program you’re following or just keeping it loose?

^Shirt that I’m wearing for my late-night squatting, etc.

Alright folks, I had THE most utterly ridiculous day at the office. May have to rant about it later. The theme: ACCOUNTABILITY.

Many people would probably bag the gym but I feel like if I don’t go train right now then my head might pop off.

Be back later to report on my efforts and catch up with everyone.

I agree with this ^. The next morning is an excellent time to consider the future. Everything looks better after getting laid. Your brain just works better.

catching up in here…:-))

Wednesday training: Squats, etc.

Warmup- spiderman crawls, wall squats, defending my squat rack

FS- bar x 5, 95 x 5, 115 x 5, 135, 135, 145, 125 x 5, 3

OH squats- bar x 10, 65 x 8, 85 x 3; First time trying these, I like them. Will do them again sometime when not pre-fatigued.

DB bulgarians, front foot on step (5 risers,) back foot on bench- 40’s x 6 x 3, 45’s x 6 all each leg

Conditioning circuit x 3: 1-arm KB swing (35 lbs) x 10 each arm, walking lunges 30’s x 10; As little rest as possible between each.

My legs felt pretty rubbery by the end of this session. Home to drink a beer and collect my thoughts. Today was long and brutal.

I’m too beat to rant but suffice it to say there was a ‘misunderstanding’ regarding the schedule at the office. The result: NO RECEPTIONIST! I’m fucking pissed. Worked the morning by myself… again. Amongst the regular adjustments, modalities and k-taping we had 2 new patients - both in extreme pain - one an ESL Polish cleaning lady (God bless her) who was very difficult to consult with and the other a 90 yr old lady with sciatica. Both left feeling better but I felt like I was running a 3-ring circus. Luckily my boss and I are both efficient and good under pressure. Got the job done and smiled while doing it. Spent the afternoon sorting out the aftermath of the morning mayhem.

Sounds stressful but the fact you helped both those ladies has to be rewarding. Even with the stress that’s got to be better than the 90% of jobs that involve sitting at a desk and pushing a mouse around.

I need to get better about this. I wanted to punch someone–anyone–in the face today and was convinced I’d feel better (no, I didn’t do it).

Should’ve just gone to lift right at that moment. Fucking hate people.

That trail sounds very peaceful. I get almost a spiritual high out of running outside in a beautiful place. It’s sometimes really therapeutic to get into some nature. And the single leg action is looking good! I like the idea of Bulgarians off the risers, then that circuit with the lunges. Cool!

that sounds like a day from hell all right…
as a superwoman you survived, thrived and kicked some ass. a testament to your nature.

beer was much deserved

Forgot to post this food porn yesterday. Cafe lunch was all I could squeeze in due to crazy day at work. I had soup and a giant salad and THIS^!!! (For the record that is a glass of Pellegrino. I don’t drink and work on patients.)

You gals are the BEST! Promise to catch up with everyone tonight. Getting ready to go to the gym after a much-needed day of resting.

^ ohhhh! love those. aren’t they stuffed with ricotta? can’t remember the damn name…

LOL at defending your squat rack. It’s so uncommon for me to have to do that.

Nice conditioning circuit, I never tried 1-arm swings.
You’re awesome Dollface <3

Nadia- Yup that 100 rep bench was mostly a mental challenge! Felt great. As far as weathering the storm, I’m holding fast to the people I love. We’ll all get through together.

BG- Love the lolcat. I also love being chided for being a veg. Thanks a bunch

Sugarbuns- The bf is whatever. We have our differences and I think that they aren’t things I can move past at this point. But the sex is good when he makes time for it. The squat racks are always getting used for things other than actual squats so I get ghetto to make sure that I have one when I need it. Conditioning is torture, the kind that I truly enjoy!

kimba- Awww. Glad that I can help you in the motivation department.

skye- Yeah, I’m just doing my thing now that the GVT is over. We’ll see. I hardly ever follow a strict program like that. And selfish when it comes to sex is certainly ok.

arachne- Agreed, getting laid = better brain function. WIN!

lil power- Thanks for checking in. All is well, in relative terms.

Cal- You’re right. The staffing situation at work is pretty fucked up, but I still have an amazing job. I love what I do. Service to others is my calling.

Ponce- Glad that you didn’t punch anybody. Smashing big weights is ALWAYS the better choice. Get to it!

Puff- That trail is like an alternate universe for me. I can’t tell you what I feel when I run there. Little piece of heaven. I’m really happy to get back to the leg accessories. I missed them immensely during the GVT.

Frenchie- Yup, survive and thrive is the name of the game. My current fave brew is Riverhorse Hop-a-lot-amus. It is delicious and local (to me.) And that yummy thing is a cannoli. Jersey has the best cannolis on the planet. I think they’re filled with marscapone. Regardless, they are bangin’! One of my few weaknesses when it comes to desserts. Especially if there are chocolate chips mixed into the filling. YUM!

Training: back/triceps

Warmup- bunch of mobility stuff with tubing

HS wide pulldown- 140 x 8, 6, 6

BB bent row- 118x5, 128x5, 138x5x3; These felt really strong. I think the GVT helped with my overall power and confidence on these.

One-arm DB row: 70x5, 75x5x2, 80x5, 3; Grip was failing on the last set and I re-ripped the calluses on my left hand. FML. Some kid asked me if I ever used straps while I was doing these. Gave him my one-liner about grip strength.

Cable seated row: 3x10

WG pullups: 2, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1; HAPPY! More reps than last time I did them and I think 3 is a rep PR.

SS: skullcrushers/CGBP- 63x8/8, 68x8/8, 73x6/8; These are the source of crazy triceps pumps. Love this SS.

Dips- 6, 8, 6

Cable triceps stuff, a bunch- OH extensions, press downs, etc.

I slept a lot today. Feeling good. Still haven’t really gotten my appetite back, but whatever. Not like I’m starving. And I take all of my supplements faithfully so I don’t lose much, if any, muscle mass.

Pretty happy with this session. I tweaked my left elbow yesterday at work while strapping 2 obese patients, in a row, onto the decompression table :frowning: I considered bagging the triceps stuff, but it felt fine when I got to the gym.

Also, back on my favorite pre-training supplement which has a bunch of good shit in it. Haven’t taken creatine in a couple of months and I definitely feel the difference.

Would you prefer a tongue lashing?

I’m completely serious. Your choice. I’m used to people thinking I’m a nut for my non-flesh-eating status. Just doesn’t appeal to me. If it did I’d eat it. I’m fully expecting that one day I’ll wake up and want a steak… hasn’t happened yet. 20 years on my birthday, about 6 weeks away.

I guess that’s a no on the tongue lashing then? :frowning:

Seriously though, I totally understand your reasoning, actually. Why would you eat something that doesn’t appeal to you? I mean, I have no interest in making everything out of almond flour or some of that other crap people post about in the nutrition forum, so I don’t…

I’ve gone through phases where I’ve had little interest in certain types of foods, including meat, they just never lasted very long. I guess I’m just weird and picky.

I knew that you chose to go veg because meat didn’t appeal to you, but I didn’t realize that its been nearly 20 years!
