Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

Kalle, Charlie- Thanks. Powerful veggie is here to stay. I really hated all the shit I had to do to get so fucking skinny, never again.

Ponce- Remember, I’ve been a veg for 20 years come June. My family has come to respect how I eat. We have a family CSA share that introduces them to lots of fun and unusual veggies for 6 months of the year.

Beast- I’ll keep you posted on the possibility of a PL meet. At this point it is a definite maybe

deja- Aint that the truth!

CBear- FWIW, no camera. Just i-Sight on the macbook. Volume is good for you sometimes. The GVT variety is my only real venture into this kind of volume. Only a few times a year to keep things interesting. Not exactly a drunk, but I do like to drink-- much to the chagrin of my teetotaler bf!

lil power- Thanks. Packing on muscle is easy for me. Genetics I guess. The prospect of PL meet is intriguing. Gonna have to go talk to my coach and make the move to training at his PL/strongman gym a couple days a week if I’m going to be successful.

MiM- Can I be your admirer too? I push press that DB and use my other hand to stabilize it on the way up.

glap- Welcome to veggieworld! You are can come visit anytime. Feel free to post. Is that a dollhouse behind you in your avi? If so, you must have some future Powerful Women in your life. Help inspire them to be strong!

Honeybuns- Shorty shorts FTW! Good luck dodging the basketball giants when you sprint! One time a basketball came flying out of the court at my gym and hit me while I was doing seated rows. I went fucking full-ghetto on that dude. They’re gentlemen once you show them who’s boss. Dude came and apologized to me again like an hour after it happened!

Most Major- I’m interested to see where my training leads me next too! Still not certain what my next program will look like. PL meet is likely at some point. We shall see… You should definitely try GVT. So much fun. The mental challenge and sweating keep me coming back for more

Max- Thanks. My best advice for waking up with a kink in your neck/back is to stretch, ice, and see a good chiro. Spinal health is so important. Amazing what a clear connection between your brain and body can do for all aspects of your health, not to mention you FEEL GREAT! No way in hell that I could train like I do with out adjustments, acupuncture, and other bodywork.

Matty- Glad you like the pic. I also like that position for multiple reasons. And you’d never have to worry about getting kicked. I’m a lover, not a fighter!

alexus- I’m actually really nice to most of the gym folks, but fiercely territorial when it comes to squat racks. I watched a litany of quarter-squatters and curlers while I was training last night. Ughh! And I’ve never been able to buy pants, particularly jeans. I have exactly ONE pair of Lucky Brand that fit. Size 0. Kinda creeps me out. If I’m a zero then what size do all the skinny bitches wear?

Nadia- Yeah, my hand is ok. I refuse to let something so trivial impact my training. What the hell is butts up? Must be a North Jersey thing!

kmcnyc- Thanks for stopping in! I love GVT, but you can’t do it forever. I only do 4-6 weeks a every once in a while. Super fun and I get great results. WIN!

I paid for this. Cash-money! Not what you think…

My acupuncturist did some gua sha after she finished with the needles today. Hurts like a bitch, looks like a disaster, but feels fucking great afterwards. Tissue was just too congested to forgo it today. Going back next week for follow up, usually I’m a 2/monther for wellness/recovery. I love her so much for taking care of me.

Thursday training: Back/Triceps GVT

Warmup- Shoulder and upper back mobility stuff, 10 total pullups and neutral chins

Pendlay rows @ 97: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 8, 10, 7, 9; 93 reps

Incline skullcrushers @ 53: 10 x 10

Felt easy. Definitely 58 if I do them again. Getting close to the end of GVT. Not sure that they’ll make another appearance this time around.

Cable seated row: 3 x 20

Dips, BW: 10, 8, 6, 9

DONE

That back hurts so good? Ouch! About pants, just accept that you are going to have to have everything tailored for your little waist. It will be worth it to have things fit right. I like Lucky jeans too. They do make a few models that are cut bigger in the thigh.

That butt stickin’ up there in the shorty shorts needs pinchin’!

Pinch away Powerpuff!

I actually don’t feel anything in my back… for the first time in over a week!

Nice Pendlays! That’s a ton of volume. Ouch, that back stuff looks painful :frowning:

weird… yesterday I needed some decent music for a late study session, and found White Zombie in the collection. played some La Sex and Astrocreep. Just funny that you posted them.

i have trouble buying jeans, too. partly because aussie / nz is a couple years (at least) behind US fashions and is only just starting to move on from super dooper ridiculously low rise skinny jeans that are made for pre-pubescent sticks rather than people.

i remember the good old days when jeans were made of denim rather than spandex and they actually fit better with time and the colors aged in idiosyncratic ways depending on how they fit to your body. now they like the super tight mostly spandex thing because they stretch out all funny pretty fast so you need to buy new ones more regularly. and they try and give them age lines by dying them funny and it only looks silly because they don’t match up with the way the jeans crease / fit on any actual body.

a bit hard to find… but i have much better luck with pants that are designed to sit on the hips rather than the waist. hips don’t seem to vary in size with monthly fluctuations and meals the way my waist does.

i find the sizes vary a lot depending on the brand / style. they find that women tend to feel better about (hence to buy) if the sizes run large (so people can fit themselves in a size that is smaller than they are used to). except for the ones really marketed to 14-18 year old girls… brutal.

guess i’m showing my age, heh. oh well. end rant.

nothing i love more than a good pair of jeans. except for snatches, of course.

Acupuncture made your back red? How the hell did that happen?

I find it hard getting jeans that fit. Even the “relaxed fit” ones are snug on the thighs, and I actually hate the feeling of tight clothing. I tend to wear combats these days.

gnarly back shot! i just had my first experience with accupuncture last week. just got a few stuck in my face/ears. crazy stuff. i’d love to get stuck more often. lol

White Zombie, Disturbed, and Godsmack are my go-to squat/DL music.

we are kindred spirits, are you of Norse heritage?

gua sha hurts!!!

that is allot of rowing volume- I think about GVT, then I shudder and think about other things.
I took a massage license years ago and traded work with someone who was big on that style of work.

Im compact at 5’5" and jeans are an issue for men too I usually have to go up in waist to fit

Ahh, Butts up! We played that up here in Canada too. I’ve heard it called red ass too.
Let me see if I remember this correctly…

With a group of people you throw a ball (we usually played with a tennis ball) against the wall. If you attempt to catch the ball and miss you have to run and touch the wall before someone else hits the wall with the ball.

If you beat the ball you’re safe. If the ball beats you, you stand up against the wall while the other player gets a free shot at your ass with the ball. I have pretty good hands, so I didn’t find myself with my hands on the wall very often.

Ah, nostalgia.

Anyway - that is an awesome transformation you’ve made! Looks like the GVT is doing the trick. I like the idea of being bigger, stronger and hungrier.

Pretty needless to say that it hurts like a bitch. Damn.
Gua sha… sounds so pretty, so obviously deceiving lol

Yay, the end of GVT is near. Then is when you’ll be moving trains.

Hey, superwoman! Looks like your GVT is going great! I’m so happy for you that you’re in such a comfortable spot with who you are and what you do now. When does the GVT wrap up? Hope your family is doing well!

That’s the game. Look at that back! Wow, Ouch.

Oooh acupunture - so jealous!! I went a couple of times and I loved it. Its pricey for me though.

I thought of you today when I did my KB swings - there is indeed an ass pump! And i only did 3 sets. lol!

Awesome training as always!

I recommend Papa Roach’s “Getting Away with Murder.”

More Human Than Human, Down With the Sickness, and Stupified FTMFW !

Hiya Veggie, looking for your opinion on some anatomy type shit if that’s ok…

John Parrillo (an old time BB’er kinda guy) states that glutes get their most activation when hip flexion passes 90 degrees. So the extension portion of the movement would be greater, hence the idea that ATG squats build the glutes up. Agree ? Disagree ? Speak warrior woman ! (please)

FTR I’ve added over an inch of ass since doing crap loads of ATG this past couple of months.
