Masch- Sometimes wisdom really does come with age. It did for me regarding my body issues at least. Why no pushups? Still protecting the shoulder?

Brute- Volume rocks. But I am missing the max lifts/low reps a bit. Looking forward to more intensity soon. PL meet, maybe, not sure yet.

alexus- Glad to inspire. You make a good point about my hand strength. And as an extension, my forearms. That’s one of the biggest differences in my body. My forearms are much bigger and stronger since I’ve been doing the grip training. Helps a lot in my work.

Puff- I’m kind of blown away a bit myself when I look at both pics. I really look a bit scrawny in the one from last year. That just is not my natural state. What’s even crazier is that roughly 5 years ago I was under 110! I was running compulsively in those days. I’m much happier and healthier now.

Nadia- Thanks. I’m excited for what comes next too. Just not sure what it is yet?!? A comp would probably be fun though.

Sweetcheeks- Very happy to get you hot over the volume. The bench setup while racing the clock adds another challenge = more fun! It is NOT cool here. Maybe not as hot as Satan’s ass, but probably as hot as his balls. You know, a few degrees cooler. Lol. Go beach it. Sand won’t harm you. Sprinting indoors maybe? School have an inside track? I’ve done HIIT sprints on a treadmill, but it is a bitch! And no, I don’t want my babydoll to get baked by the sun! Stay cool mama!


Today was a scheduled rest day. Minimal DOMS recently. Guess my recovery was better than I thought over the past week or so. Maybe it was the beer and apple turnovers?! Not sure.

Went out to do some shopping. Ughh. Finally got my legs into some 10P Talbots pants. The waist was gapping big time in the back and I decided against them. Partly because they were white. Too dangerous for a slob like myself. Remember the eating and driving thing? Disaster would be waiting in the wings.

Instead I went elsewhere to buy chalk. Also bought some more shorty shorts for my summer squatting comfort/amusement. Got the large’s because they’re less restrictive on my big f*cking legs. The waist is a tiny bit loose, but they’re spandex. And it’s not like they’re gonna slip down over my ass while I’m squatting either. I think I can keep 'em up.

Afterwards I stopped at my folks’ place to pick something up. Ran into a family acquaintance who said “… don’t you look slim…” and smiled. Then I stopped to buy a bottle of singe-malt and the guy carded me! He said, “We have to card anyone who looks under 30.” Guess I should be happy with both of those observations/comments.

Tomorrow will be FS/RDL’s. Can’t wait. I look forward to leg day so very much :slight_smile:

I am late to the chiming in on the old Veggie vs new Veggie. I think both look good, but with the kind of workouts that you seem to enjoy now I don’t think the old look would even be possible. So current look ftw!
I got no enjoyment out of the kinds of dieting and workouts I needed to do to be skinny.

Fuck yeah to the shorty shorts! Gotta find a couple hours of free time and I’ma do the same thing. It’s already summer here so I get to rock them for the next 6 months lol

Oh and I’m done with school until late August. I’ll probably do indoor sprints there. Meanwhile I’ll just wait for the basketball court in my gym to be empty. I was curious to know if you had some tips for when you sleep funny and wake up with a kink in your neck or back. I am dying here.

First of all, today has been a LONG fucking day. Work was crazy especially with the k-tape. Did some very interesting and artistic work on a swollen ankle amongst other things. Beige tape on backorder, so everybody is walking around with electric blue. Nice. Worked about 10 hrs total with a midday nap. Didn’t hit the gym til about 9:30 pm after downing some coffee and espresso. Thankfully that doesn’t keep me up. Not sure anything could after GVT lower sessions anyway!

Wednesday training GVT lower

Warmup: Usual, wall squats and spiderman crawls-- had to defend my squat rack right before I started. Doing last set of wall squats and I leered at this kid who was walking up to it. WTF. You can see my water bottle, chalk. pen, pants, etc!

FS @ 120: 10, 10, 10, 10, 7, 9, 9, 9, 10, 8; 92 reps

Listened to some of my favorite DL music. Needed something extra tonight. I ripped a callous on my left hand the other day and my grip was fucked up on the 1st set. My hand bothered me a bit, but there was no way I was gonna pussy out. Ended up doing 11 sets because I refused to let the first one be less than 10 reps*.

RDL @ 155: *5, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9— ahhhh. FUCK! If you count the dud 1st set I did 104 reps.

Tried to force myself to do some abs but honestly I mostly laid on the mat. I’ll get it in tomorrow or sometime.

I’m gonna say that this was a great session. My body is pretty tired now. Tomorrow will be sleeping, eating, acupuncture and evening GVT back/tri’s.

hahaha. i used to think it would be cool if some of you ladies trained in my gym… but now i reckon you guys would scare me off squatting for life if i accidentally put myself between you and your squat rack ha!

i bet the guys are hoping like hell your pants don’t manage to stay up.

are there really people who don’t have trouble buying pants that fit? i mean… i’m pretty regular size (hangs head in shame) and i still have trouble. i think they purposely make them in order for women to feel bad about themselves.
