Masch- Sometimes wisdom really does come with age. It did for me regarding my body issues at least. Why no pushups? Still protecting the shoulder?
Brute- Volume rocks. But I am missing the max lifts/low reps a bit. Looking forward to more intensity soon. PL meet, maybe, not sure yet.
alexus- Glad to inspire. You make a good point about my hand strength. And as an extension, my forearms. That’s one of the biggest differences in my body. My forearms are much bigger and stronger since I’ve been doing the grip training. Helps a lot in my work.
Puff- I’m kind of blown away a bit myself when I look at both pics. I really look a bit scrawny in the one from last year. That just is not my natural state. What’s even crazier is that roughly 5 years ago I was under 110! I was running compulsively in those days. I’m much happier and healthier now.
Nadia- Thanks. I’m excited for what comes next too. Just not sure what it is yet?!? A comp would probably be fun though.
Sweetcheeks- Very happy to get you hot over the volume. The bench setup while racing the clock adds another challenge = more fun! It is NOT cool here. Maybe not as hot as Satan’s ass, but probably as hot as his balls. You know, a few degrees cooler. Lol. Go beach it. Sand won’t harm you. Sprinting indoors maybe? School have an inside track? I’ve done HIIT sprints on a treadmill, but it is a bitch! And no, I don’t want my babydoll to get baked by the sun! Stay cool mama!
Today was a scheduled rest day. Minimal DOMS recently. Guess my recovery was better than I thought over the past week or so. Maybe it was the beer and apple turnovers?! Not sure.
Went out to do some shopping. Ughh. Finally got my legs into some 10P Talbots pants. The waist was gapping big time in the back and I decided against them. Partly because they were white. Too dangerous for a slob like myself. Remember the eating and driving thing? Disaster would be waiting in the wings.
Instead I went elsewhere to buy chalk. Also bought some more shorty shorts for my summer squatting comfort/amusement. Got the large’s because they’re less restrictive on my big f*cking legs. The waist is a tiny bit loose, but they’re spandex. And it’s not like they’re gonna slip down over my ass while I’m squatting either. I think I can keep 'em up.
Afterwards I stopped at my folks’ place to pick something up. Ran into a family acquaintance who said “… don’t you look slim…” and smiled. Then I stopped to buy a bottle of singe-malt and the guy carded me! He said, “We have to card anyone who looks under 30.” Guess I should be happy with both of those observations/comments.
Tomorrow will be FS/RDL’s. Can’t wait. I look forward to leg day so very much ![]()
