Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

The only difference I think I see is that BB rows don’t hit the floor for the duration of the set; Pendlays start from dead stop (floor).

Else, I see no difference whatsoever.

Nice sesh Veg!

I agree with MiM, when I do Pendlays I feel like they def hit my upper back more than a reg BB Row. I can also pull more on reg rows than with Pendlays…

Hello all. Wish I was home catching up on your logs. Instead I’m posting on my blackberry from the hospital. My brother was in a nasty mva last night. We had a torrential thunderstorm and he lost controlof his SUV and ended up over the guardrail and in a marshy ditch.

Extricated. Fractured fibula. Pretty severe tissue damage. PA was just in and said that the doc will be making rounds soon and decide whether or not he is going to have another surgery today.

Hoping to get to the gym for my squat/DL session later.

All I can say is that my brother is the luckiest SOB that I have EVER KNOWN. My nephew was with him but completely un-injured. Thank God.

Will update later.

OMG! Veg! So sorry to hear about your bro. Car accidents are so scary. I’m sorry he’s all banged up, but glad to hear he’s well. Sending my love for a quick recovery!

Thoughts to your fam, veg. Hope he’s on the mend.

Veggie, I am sorry to hear about the accident, that is crazy.

Ugh, sorry about your brother, but you’re right, it could have been a lot worse. And of course, you are ideally placed to help him with his rehab. Here’s hoping the damage isn’t as bad as feared.

Oh Veg sorry to hear about your brother.

Aww veg I’m sorry to hear about your brother. Update with good news <3

First time checking out your log. Sorry about your brother, sounds like he’ll have serious rehab to do but at least he’s okay as long with your nephew.

Veggie - sorry to hear about your brother, and I’m genuinely hoping his recovery is quicker than expected. I’m glad to hear that your nephew wasn’t hurt in the accident.

Scary about your brother!!

(hugs to you)

Hope he gets better QUICK!

oh wow. so relieved to hear that things weren’t any worse, but sounds plenty serious with surgeries. hoping that runs smoothly and wishing you all fortitude for the recovery process.

sigh. that sucks. he’ll get better, and i know you’ll be on his ass about rehab. if he’s anything like you he’ll have no prob making the best of any situation.

If he is anything like her…

He will murder a rock, injure a stone, hospitalize a brick, he is so tough he will make medicine sick.

He will wrestle an alligator, tussle with a whale, handcuff lightning and throw thunder in jail.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way Veggie…

Wow. Thanks everyone. Your thoughts and prayers are truly appreciated.

My bro is doing as well as can be expected. He will have another surgery tomorrow to attempt to close the laceration on his leg. Fib fx not that bad. Walking cast once the wound is under control. Real concern is infection. Spent most of the day at the hospital. Went home to nap for a bit, went to gym to train, back to hospital. I’m the official family medical liaison, so I talked to countless nurses, docs, surgeons, a PA. Getting ready to call the nurses’ station to try to see if they’ve put up the OR schedule for tomorrow. Never a dull moment in my family. Never.

Training legs/lower GVT

Warmup: usual wall squats, spiderman crawls

Squats @ 140: 10, 10, 10, 10, 8, 7, 10, 9, 8, 9; 91 reps

RDLs @ 155: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 7, 8, 7, 8; 90 reps

Not a bad session considering the day (and weekend) I’ve had. Definitely didn’t eat enough. At least I’ve taken all of my supplements. Not the most or best sleep either. And I raised the RDL weight since I had gotten 10x10 @ 150 last time I trained that lift on Tues.

Provided all goes well with surgery, etc. my work and training schedule should be unaffected tomorrow.

Count your blessings. Never know what will happen, when.

You know what? You’re a bonafide “Go Hard.” That’s an awesome thing in a woman. Although your brother was in a bad accident, you are still keeping the big picture in mind and doing what you do. That’s a rare thing to find in people. Admirable, although, some would view it as cold or detached. Could definitely have used you out here (yep…still stuck in Afghanistan). Put these folks in check.

I will keep your brother in my prayers.

Veg, glad that your bro is going to make a recovery. Sweet training with everything going on. I train regardless of what is going on, it keeps me grounded and centered, so keep after it- you are doing are awesome.
Love them firefighters, they train real hard to take care of all of us!

Bro is going back to the OR, hopefully within the hour.

Surgeon and PA were honest. They have no idea what his leg looks like. It has been bandaged since Sat night. May be able to close it. May need a skin graft. Don’t know.

He had the most awseome tat on the entire posterior surface of that calf. Be interesting to see how it looks after all of this. I told him to view this as an opportunity for a major ink upgrade. Look on the bright side, right?

I certainly feel even more pleased to have given those firefighters a great show last week when I was squatting in the leopard shorts. Some of those guys were probably part of the extrication crew that pulled my bro out the other night.

His attitude is really good. We were just talking about how he should be able to get back in the gym this week to do some upper body training. That will make him feel a lot better and I don’t see any contraindications. Walking cast is meant for being mobile. Looking forward to taking him with me when I bench on Thursday.
