Sorry to hear about your brother, but glad to hear that he is recovering and that your nephew came out unscathed. Very lucky indeed!
Solid training in spite of it all too.

Real sorry to hear about your brother’s accident, but glad he’s “ok” despite the severity of the crash. Hope he heals up quickly!
You’re doing an awesome thing in keeping up with all the docs and stuff, must be awesome to have you in the family! Keep kicking ass Veg!
thank god your bro’s fairly ok! what a ordeal!
Veggie,
I can tell you, believe me on this, that while docs know their shit, they also cannot predict how well we heal.
My doc (who is considered “da man”) told me I would not be able to do much more than walk and live life at the pace. Little did this guy know who he was dealing with. Took me awhile, but I found my Alpha again. Your bro will need to do the same, the battle will be fought and won in his mind. Where the mind goes, the body follows. Trust me on this, after 19 surgeries, and dying during surgery twice, I still whoop ass and take names.
Sorry to hear about your brother, hope things stay clean and he heals up fast!!
Again, thanks everyone for sending all the good vibes our way! My brother had surgery again today. The trauma surgeon (new guy, much more personable btw) was able to close his leg. He even made a joke about trying to line up the edges of his tattoo. The piece is sick. Gargoyles and such in a crazy gothic-type night scene. He mentioned that he thinks that one of them is ‘winking’ now due to his handiwork. LOL. Bro is doing well. I went back to check on him after work. The physical therapist will visit him in the morning, the surgeon will recheck him and then he’ll be discharged. I’m going back to the hospital in the morning to partake in the festivities and then I’m taking his ass home! Lucky. Just unbelievably lucky.
After the hospital I took a nap for about an hour and a half and then went over to the gym. Quiet time @ 10:30 pm. Perfect.
Monday’s training: back/triceps GVT
Warmup: random mobility stuff with resistance tubing, etc.
BB bent over row @ 100: 10, 10, 10, 8, 10, 9, 10, 9, 10, 9; 95 reps, very pleased with that. Felt good. Put some dudes to shame. All in a night’s work, right?
Incline skullcrushers @ 58: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 10, 10, 9, 10; 98 reps!
Pullups, dips: a bunch not counting
Stretchers: 3x10
Cable triceps rope pressdown: 3x10
Done

Ooops, it was Monday and I forgot to post a progress pic.
138.8, +5.6 lbs in the past 3 weeks. The GVT is working just perfectly. Still feeling relatively lean.
Drinking a fine Pennsylvania craft-brew for the B vitamins amongst other things…
looking fab veg!..oh and yes… the after 10pm gym crowd is NICE ![]()
looking great. nom beer, too. glad to hear the surgery went well and you were lucky enough to get a personable surgeon. they really are very rare…
Just catching up on all the happenings over here. Veggie, I’m glad the surgery went well and he came through safe and sound.
Nice progress pic up there.^ Congrats that all the volume is paying off. I find your gains over the past year to be so impressive.
Just saw the news about your bro. Glad he’s doing well and has a hustler of a sister.
B vitamins are never wrong. Never.
Damn baby, KILLED IT.
Awesome training. Good news about your brother too
Wow awesome rows! Glad to read your bro is doing well.
Fortunately, today was a scheduled rest day. I went over to the hospital in the morning. They’d taken my bro off of the IV fluids, antibiotics. Trauma PAs came to check and redress his leg. It was the first that any of us had seen it. Looks great. Probably upwards of 80 stitches closing various lacerations on his left calf. Didn’t lose any skin. We decided that his tattoo is going to look even cooler/more badass with the scars. PT and OT came to make sure he could walk in the cam boot, gave him crutches. I asked the PT if it’d be ok for me to k-tape his upper knee/quad to help with the edema and increase muscle activation to prevent atrophy. He gave me his blessing, so I taped it tonight.
After some consideration, it made the most sense for me to bring him home with me. I can redress his leg and monitor for signs of infection. And my bro lives with my folks who had planned to go visit our grandpa in Cincy this week (who just got dx’d with bone cancer.) Bro needs some help with basic stuff and I don’t mind taking care of him for the short-term. He is a model patient for me. Follows directions and such. Not sure he would be so agreeable for mom anyway. She’s still freaked from the accident and needs some time to decompress. I’d rather her be able to rest assured that he is in my capable hands so she can spend some time with grandpa.
I’ll be unwrapping and redressing his leg on Thurs morning, so I’m planning to photograph the ink/sutured lacs. Check back.
News flash: the sick receptionist at the office is sick again. I was informed of this when I dropped by today to pickup my paycheck and re-tape somebody’s shoulder after my bro got discharged. Gonna be working without a receptionist in the morning. Oh, joy! Whatever. Working without a net keeps me on my toes ![]()
Tomorrow is my scheduled bench/shoulder GVT session. I’m doing the late-night thing again. The crowd is minimal and people were pretty cool. Thurs is my day off anyway and no training scheduled. Long hump day ahead.

so your bulking? Awesome still looking lean!
Hope for quick recovery to your brother. You sound like an awesome sister.
Great news if they took your bro off the IV’s, that’s always a plus. Glad to hear he also didn’t lose any skin. I was told that I would need a graft from my thigh at one point, but I healed so much that I didn’t need it, although I had 2 feet worth of packing soaked in Betadine. Great news Veggies, keep up, tell your bro that he is just one more step closer to being mortal, like me ![]()
good news on the bench form “clicking”
sending you some good vibes concerning your bro - glad it turned out well.
and that bicep is smokin ![]()
Your brother is one hell of a lucky dude, most of all having you for a sister. Way to take care of business, veggie!
Veg, just catching up over here. Glad to hear things are turning out well with your brother, and great that your training seems not to have suffered at all by the look of that bicep! Hope the recovery continues to go well and stress remains at bay!
My patient is settled in for the night. Going to do bench and MP GVT session now. I’m liking the late-night gym crowd ![]()
