Wish we could skip right to that. I don’t know what I want to see more though. Avenging his split decision to GSP or absolutely owning Hughes twice. Either way the champ is here again.
Please get it right!
Matt Hughes submitted GSP with an armbar in the first round in the one and only time they fought.
Don’t be giving your testicles away so easily, you only have two remember.
Royce was great for his time. And Matt Hughes is great for this time!
Always keep in mind that NO ONE even understood what the heck Jiu-Jitsu was back in the day when Royce ruled the Octagon.

I think people blow the kimura/keylock-attempt out of proportion… It was not a very close attempt, you have to bend the arm to make it hurt… and a straight armbar with only a figure four as leverage is not all that hard/painfull… Blown out of proportion i tell you…
Wow Adamsson, let us know when you’re going to compete in ADCC so we can buy the video…granted, a kimura from the same position would’ve been a hell of a lot worse, and probably would’ve ended the fight due to an injury to Royce, there was a lot of leverage on that arm from Hughes, and I’m willing to bet 99% of the population would’ve tapped…I believe Hughes even said he felt his[Royce’s] elbow popping while he was applying it.
Well, I’m sorry, grappling is only part of my “game”, but if you want to see any of my vale-tudo workouts/fights, I’ll gladly post a link… But I still think that it is blown out of proportion, I’m having guys that have trained bjj far longer and with far larger accomplishments than Hughes in a bjj-context bend my arms like that regularly… I have to admit that I’m most likely a bit more powerfull than Royce, being a powerlifter, but still… It is hard to produce any serious leverage in that position, that is my opinion, and if you think that I have to take part in the Mundial to have it… well, that is your opinion…
Get what right? I don’t know who I want to see BJ beat up on more, Hughes or GSP. I saw the Hughes GSP fight, I know GSP got submitted in the first. What are you trying to tell me to get right? BJ will own either of them the next time they fight.

Who are you rolling with that has accomplished far larger things than Hughes?

You regularly have your arm bent to the point where you hear the tendons popping? Interesting training technique you guys have.
Any Gracie fanboys who claim that Gracie didn’t even flinch during the submission attempt are full of shit. All you have to do is look at his face to see that he is in a huge amount of pain, too proud to tap, and doing everything in his power to not show any expression of pain – lest he disgrace his family. The fact that a Gracie will lie there and allow you to tear his joints apart instead of tapping proves nothing except that the Gracie family is full of egotistical douches.
I think Matt shouldn’t have pounded Gracie out from the back because now it just gives little fanboys the chance to say that it shouldn’t have been stopped, Gracie didn’t really lose, etc. I wish Matt would have fucked him up a la Rich Franklin vs Nate Quarry so that there is no question.
Fuck Royce Gracie. He is an old, skinny penis. It’s time for him to sit down with Tank Abbott and Ken Shamrock – old-timer UFC stars who just can’t hack it in today’s sport.

Royce didn’t have his mean streak last night. When the ref would raise his arm in the first UFCs he looked pissed (and fought like it too). I’d give my left nut to see Hughes now and Gracie when he was 26 with the old rules. No way Royce gets owned like he did last night. His streak went with his age and I was very sad to see him get beat like that. He didn’t look like the same fighter he once was.
Royce in his Prime wouldn’t have beaten Hughes last night…I think we should be able to move past this point, Hughes is much too good and too strong for Royce, now and then.
blah, blah, blah, blah ,blah…
The question is not what Royce could have done, but rather what he did, wich is get his ass whooped! I have never seen another fighter control Gracie’s guard like that, from the minute they went down Hughes was outside controling the fight. I would like to see an open weight class in the UFC again so Matt could kick Chuck Liddell’s ass too. Give the man his props, He’s one of the baddest, if not the baddest in the UFC.

Did you miss the “bjj-context”? That said, I think that Joachim Hansen is a better fighter overall than hughes and that he has accomplished far better (Pride being superior to UFC in most weight divisions to be honest). In the same gym as Hansen, you have Einemo and Hammer… both very accomplished BJJ-fighters…

So, you personally heard the tendons pop…? Interesting, can you show me the clip that has that good sound?

Do Hughes and Hansen have any common opponents other than Hayato Sakurai?
Not that I know of. But opponents like Gomi and Sato… well, it would be fun to see Hansen vs. Hughes, but i don’t think that it is going to happen, and if it does, i think Hansens KO-power and his eminent groundgame is too much to handle for Hughes…

Sooo we’re supposed to take everything you say at face value but then have to prove things to you? That is the link to the Matt Hughes interview where he said he felt his arm popping.
