Chris Leben Is A Punk

I was watching one of his fights earlier and he is the biggest b*tch in the UFC. His only strength to note is his ability to stomp on people’s feet. Once their feet are bruised he will use his weight as he clenches in the corner and the opponent will be too afraid to keep their feet on the ground.

This is a cheap ass move and I think it is on the level of kicking a guy in the nuts and eye gouging. It should be barred. He is the only fighter that i have ever seen use the foot stomp. What a punk.

Okay.

I just had this conversation with someone. He sucks so bad. He’s got an awful personality too.

Of course it should be used. Hurts like hell too. Off the top of my head, Matt Serra uses it.

Can’t stand Leben though.

I remember seeing him get caught in the guillotine from Jason MacDonald and all I could say was “yeesssssss!”.

Huh? Of all the reason to think he’s a punk, you choose foot-stomping? It’s just another technique that fighters should be preparedfor.

Interviewer: So, what would you do if you were pinned to the ground by a significantly heavier fighter?

Bruce Lee: Well, I would bite him, of course.

The ‘King of the Streets’ does not approve of this thread.

Foot stomps are old school vale tudo, and most definitely belong in MMA.

Yes, Chris Leben is a punk.
If you can find the pre fight interview of he and Anderson Silva it is hilarious. He talks about how overrated the PRIDE fighters are and how they are in for a big surprise when they come over to the UFC. Then he gets a severe beatdown and knocked out in under 2 minutes.

Foot stomps are ok…a distraction to cause an opponent to make a mistake then capitalize on said error.

I remember that guillotine choke hold. It made my night. Fuck him and his gay ass hairdo.

The tactic is legal and it works. It is debilitating and that is the point. If he can use it to his advantage, so be it.

I’m sorry to see MMA go the route of popular culture. It was much cooler when the fights had less rules and were more “realistic”. New fans are ruining it with this type of bullshit.

I think a standing person should be allowed to kick a downed fighter, punches to the back of the head should be allowed and nut shots too.

The sport is based on fighting. Not showmanship and fancy footwork.

Then we wouldn’t get to watch it on tv. If you want to see a realistic fight, go to a bar.

Great idea, they could even leave random objects (baseball bats, crowbars, chairs, broken bottles) lying around for the fighters to use. After all, there is no such thing as a clean/fair fight in reality, right?

Then, halfway into the fight, they could have police storm the ring/cage/alley and arrest both of the fighters and half of the onlookers, charging them with assault, resisting arrest, and the ever popular disorderly conduct. Now THAT’s realism.

MMA can be more realistic than it is. It is a shame that it isn’t.

A conservative line is definately drawn as the sport sells itself to higher paying promoters. You really can’t deny that.

A fight with the least amount of rules is also more exciting than heavily regulated fights.

If we are going with extremes, maybe the fighters should wear football pads and fight with goose down pillows?

You act like the UFC had a choice in adding the rules… and nut shots were never allowed.

I disagree.

No holds barred was starting to get VERY boring as wrestlers learned how to defend submissions and just laid on top of their opponents. Once they learned that tactic, it seeme like every fight between the top tier guys ended up in a long, drawn-out stalemate.

Nothing in MMA today can match Shamrock-Severn II or Shamrock-Gracie II for inducing REM sleep. Heck, even the classic battles between Oleg Taktarov, Shammy, and the Beast had more than their share of stalling.

I love the old school vale tudo, but even I have to admit that UFC grew stale and boring in the final days of NHB fighting.

Uh, the original UFC broadcasts were horrible. Fights were sloppy as hell and the no-rules didn’t really play into making it any better.

People who actually practice MMA and related sports usually find old fights more exciting. the technicalities of fighting are more pronounced, even if they are not as flashy as a knock out.

Jim Browns announcing made up for all that.

“That was totally in the face”

Or Tank Abbots interviews

“I dont respect anyone, not even you”…

oh man I can still crack up thinking about it…
