You are ignorant of MMA and Sakuraba.

Here’s another one:

why the fuck would you write this ? why would even hint that royce gracie could be equated with a whiney excuse making bitch ? was it the way he didn’t even wince when hughes spent a minute trying to snap his arm ? fuck you.
Just watched this - G shows huge balls, looked totally calm while maybe the strongest lb for lb fighter in the game tries to take his arm apart. Gotta give him credit for that.
H totally destroyed him technically. It never looked like there was even a chance for G once they hit the ground.
I was giving Gracie 4 to 1 odds, but I still did not see him getting completely dominated in such a fashion. Once the fight went to the mat, he looked completely out of his element, never once even getting guard as Matt worked from sidecontrol the entire time. I was thinking the ref took too long to stop the fight because once those punches started raining down I was thinking,“stop this before he gets murdered!”
Anyways, Hughes did what he said he would, I couldn’t believe Royce was about to get submitted so quickly(do they call it a submission if you don’t tap?)…I do hope Royce retires after this match though, I do not see what he could do other than tarnish his legacy and give ammo to the anti-Gracie faction.

Gracie stated after the match he wanted to heal up and come back for a few more fights. Can someone confirm this?

because if you know anything about the gracies they are very proud people and that they like to find out who is the better man in a fight. and that means finishing it between the two and no one else involved. if this would have been the earlier ufc’s im talking back when royce could have used his gi, that fight wouldnt have been stopped like that.
royces head would have been pounded into mush.
so being that i didnt know what he had to say about the stoppage i was just curious what he had to say about it. there was no need to tell me to go fuck myself. there was an ealier post with the exact information i was looking for and that was that.
its just like when royler was caught in that very tight kimura by saku. royler got right back up protesting the stoppage. could royce have gotten out of that position? probably not. was he knocked out? no. could royler have gotten out of that kimura? probably not. was his shouler torn out of its socket. no.
i would think that royce would have rather been knocked out or at least let his corner tell him not to go back out if he were to have made it into the second round. im pretty sure, although not completely, that he even said after the sakuraba fight he would have done whatever his corner advised. if rorion never threw in the towel and said to go back in, royce would have. i would assume that deep deep down in royces gut he knows he was going to lose the fight but at that very point it wasnt lost yet. he wasnt ko’d and he never tapped.
side note: just before the fight was called it did look like he was starting to tap right in front of his face tapping on the mat.
I think people blow the kimura/keylock-attempt out of proportion… It was not a very close attempt, you have to bend the arm to make it hurt… and a straight armbar with only a figure four as leverage is not all that hard/painfull… Blown out of proportion i tell you… ![]()

well, you went beyond being “curious” and merely inquiring as to what was said. you made up words and excuses that didn’t exist, and with that painted gracie with poor character. i thought that was insulting. you’re right though in that i could have left the “fuck you” out of it.

I doubt it…I think it is an unwritten family rule that you are not allowed to tap

Wow Adamsson, let us know when you’re going to compete in ADCC so we can buy the video…granted, a kimura from the same position would’ve been a hell of a lot worse, and probably would’ve ended the fight due to an injury to Royce, there was a lot of leverage on that arm from Hughes, and I’m willing to bet 99% of the population would’ve tapped…I believe Hughes even said he felt his[Royce’s] elbow popping while he was applying it.

Yes, he said he’d be back in the Octagon…I’m wondering why the hell he’d want to do this again.

It’s a sad day, if a rather expected one.
Hughes pretty much fulfils the template of what a decent MMA fighter should be and regardless of what my heart was telling me, it was a fairly obvious result.
As for GSP - He is quite obviously the future of the sport and there’s not many fighters you think would ever take him apart. He learns and improves with every match and seems to have some real heart too.
Should be an interesting year for UFC

I just wish there was some competition for Chuck Liddell, it doesn’t look like anyone poses a threat to him right now.

yeah it could be somewhere in there, but i have two names for you.
Mario Sperry and Eddie Bravo

In my opinion there is only one match left that will test Hughes. And that is with the great BJ Penn!
Wish we could skip right to that. I don’t know what I want to see more though. Avenging his split decision to GSP or absolutely owning Hughes twice. Either way the champ is here again.
Royce didn’t have his mean streak last night. When the ref would raise his arm in the first UFCs he looked pissed (and fought like it too). I’d give my left nut to see Hughes now and Gracie when he was 26 with the old rules. No way Royce gets owned like he did last night. His streak went with his age and I was very sad to see him get beat like that. He didn’t look like the same fighter he once was.

agreed. if royce wasnt feeling that armlock last night im sure hes feeling it today!

Those were grappling tourneys, not MMA.

Royce in his Prime wouldn’t have beaten Hughes last night…I think we should be able to move past this point, Hughes is much too good and too strong for Royce, now and then.

I want to see the Hughes-GSP fight again as soon as possible, hopefully they do it in 4 months rather than making us wait til next year. I want to see Penn fight again, but since he won’t fight chumps, I don’t know who the UFC will give him. I doubt they’d throw their golden boy Diego “Duurrty aka I get the crap ass decisions” Sanchez into the ring to get plowed, and Karo Parisian is very good, but I don’t know if either of those fights could get BJ excited enough to actually show up in shape.
I wish Penn still had the fire lit under his ass that he did when he was tearing thru people two years ago…I don’t know what the hell it would take to motivate him, but I hope he finds it before his next fight.
can’t wait for july 8…I hope Tim sylvia gets exposed…
