These fad diets are honestly what makes the fitness industry such a joke.
Just eat healthy. Fuck.

The diet includes proteins, fats, carbs
From what I’ve heard of him, the fats are kept incredibly low, and during the periods of fasting, only carbs are consumed. Am I misunderstanding?
What I’ve read is the diet is comprised of protein intake, fat intake and carb intake. And it’s ok to eat candy. Maybe with a “fast” that already has shifting goal posts to define. Are you seeing something different?
This is literally IIFYM with a twist. A “fast” twist. Sort of.
I’m sure SmellyBelly will make a little money before it implodes.
If there are takeaways, it’s that we don’t need as much protein as we thought, so that’s cool. Although enough and ideal are two different animals.
Most definitely. Very much what I described in the first post.
Ya but they’re all deformed
They still taste the same, in my experience
To be fair though a lot of old dogma is pretty bad… i thrive on beef and eggs more than anything. that was sacrilege not long ago
I’m saying that people believing these are bad foods were following the guidance of a fad diet themselves.
The most basic method has continued to make the most sense with respect to dieting…
The less processed, the better.
Yeah so here is an article breaking down studies behind the hype. It’s apparently the protein restriction causing the desired effect, and by “restriction” Bell is still recommending 100 grams per day, or really 1g per Kg of body weight if worked out for him. It’s a restriction in a semantical sense.
So he fills the void with carbs. Fruits and vegetable. And, for a hook, candy.
And now we are circling back. It’s literally a well balanced diet. The 90’s Food Guide Pyramid has entered the chat, but with a candy hook to sell it as something different.
Not shocked it “works”, but I think we can leave the gummy worms on the counter for general health while “restricting” protein and substituting fruits, vegetables and grains for nutrient density.
I’ll bet $1,000 the next step is some sort of bullshit sugar water powder supplement marketed as an FGF21 booster, for 10x the cost of the sugar that makes it.
(Continuing the 90’s retro vibe, it’s Koolaid!)
What are your thoughts on Robert Sikes’ experience?
What does he weigh? Was listening to a Youtube with him earlier today
He says he doesn’t like it. It’s possible I’ve missed an update.
I did watch a YouTube video where he assumes the sugar diet does all the things and he still doesn’t like it.
He mentioned rebalancing deficiencies caused by a keto diet, which you alluded to earlier.
So he’s basically taking two extremes and “cycling” them for balance.
Not sure I understand why one wouldn’t just eat in a balanced way.
I can see temporary manipulations for extreme sport results but that’s not how it’s being marketed.
You did: you skipped the video I posted in the first post ![]()
It says he replaced some protein with fat.
Mentioned earlier, studies indicate it’s the protein “restriction” causing the effect. And for the record he said he was eating 80g per day. I believe this is pretty closely aligned with FDA recommendations of all things given his referenced 176 pound bodyweight.
He also was eating a lot of nuts, fish and cauliflower.
It’s just another way to present a balanced diet with some interesting food choices.
If anything, we are learning protein recs by the supplement industry are probably ludicrously high.
I have zero issue with people eating healthy fat sources, cruciferous vegetables and protein in the mix with various carb sources.
I don’t know that it needs to be a marketed “sugar diet”, and would recommend nutrient density from high glycemic fruits vs whoppers for the carb piece.
That is how I discussing it within this thread
You must forgive me, but that is not the case.
I do not feel you are discussing in good faith with me here
I’ll watch it again when I have time to focus but what I saw in the link you posted was charted out macros subbing fat for protein.
I will appreciate you taking time to focus ![]()
That’s fine, and to the broader context gummy worms and the hype are my point of contention. Make it strawberries and grapes. No problem. It’s the food guide pyramid diet reimagined and monetized.
The broader body of evidence is that it’s bad idea to eat a bunch of candy, and is a manipulation of a balanced diet in actual practice with fruits and veggies- without rehashing this whole thread.
This is what i saw in watching your video too. Your insistence that I missed something has me curious enough to give it another pass.
