I would say that there has to be a few women out there that have the size and strength along with the athletic ability to play pro-ball with the men…

You say that but that would be no different than me saying I can broad jump over my barn. They are mere words, wishful thinking, or nonsense that have no basis whatsoever in fact.

It also shows that you have little knowledge of football in general and pro ball in particular.

(Sorry, didn’t mean to flame but your statement above was so cotton-pickin’ ridiculous)
There are woman who are certainly strong enough. Jennifer Thompson (at only 132lbs benched 303… and has set won raw bench pressing competitions). It’s a matter of finding a women who has the size and the strength and the athletic ability.

Lots of people have size and strength, but lack the necessary skill… but you don’t see too many bodybuilders and olympic powerlifters playing football (which, pays a hell of a lot more than, more than bodybuilding or powerlifting).

I’m inclined to, as well, but she apparently convinced some authoritative body and made this headline.

BTW: “Squat lifts” Don’t you just love the lay press?

Yeah…think most guys Im around would kick my ass. Plus Ive trained (Agility training, not football) with all these Huge guys that go over to Germany and play football there and…gawd. I prided myself in outrunning some of the 6’7 obese ones though and outsprinting one tight end once but they couldve all beaten me by punching me in the face once before any of the cardio action.
:frowning:

She is going to be going against HUMONGOUS guys if she even gets to that level.
I dont know about this…I dont think this is smart at all…there are sensible reasons for double standards with the genders physical strength-wise.

I hope she gets pulverized before she goes deeper into the sport because the deeper she goes the more likely of her being killed in some fashion. I know thats with a lot of contact sports but like I said, Gender.

Tennis is not a contact sport.

Bad example.

She’ll get trampled.
Wasn’t my example, just saying women can’t compete with men in tennis. Obviously, the discrepancy in football would be even greater because it is based more on raw strength and power than technique.
Okay, have you played tennis at a high level before?
Ive seen the Alexander girls down here annihilate some of the area’s top tennis guys.

I hope everybody noticed that she doesn’t even start on her high school team. She is also 5’9" 310 lbs. It sounds to me like she is just a naive tub of lard, and I wouldn’t believe any of those lifting numbers until I see them, especially the squat.

You need to see the girls in shotput…after hearing about girls like her
(one was benching 250 coming out of high school)
from my trainer I stopped training for shotput.

Hahaha. You obviously don’t understand tennis.

5 points over a 5 set match is trampled. Although it would only be a 3 set match.

My whole point was that golf and tennis aren’t contact sports. The 2 women I stated are very very good and if anyone had any chance at beating men at a sport it would be those 2.

I don’t understand why so many people have such a negative reaction to this. She said she HOPES to play in the NFL, not that she expects to. What’s wrong with having dreams?
We squash dreams like bugs around here.

No, I don’t understand tennis, past Mario Tennis…

I wasn’t talking about Venus getting trampled, I was talking about the original girl.

And she will.

LOL at harpoon.

I saw this story on TV. Pretty sad. Her dad obviously is super-proud of his son, and the daughter became obsessed with football in order to follow in her brother’s footsteps and make her dad proud. Problem is, she turned into an obese, disgusting looking girl that will have serious health problems if she doesn’t lose a lot of weight really fast. Oh, and she has zero chance of college football. Let alone professional.

you seem like an asshole.

Wait was that a high school lifting thing?

I hope you weren’t bad at it before you quit. I think this Mangold girl threw 35ish, and thats sad because there is a girl that was in my conference who as a freshman threw 40+. BTW, whats your jav, etc? Im a decathlete, so your take on these issues as another track and field athlete is interesting.

I want to remind you guys you’re talking about someone’s 15 year old daughter, 15 year old sister, and NICK MANGOLD’S sister at that.

I agree, and if you are a football coach you are the coach that made me loathe the sport in my younger years of High School, and you shouldn’t be a coach at all in my opinion.
