You sir… are full of class.
I agree, and if you are a football coach you are the coach that made me loathe the sport in my younger years of High School, and you shouldn’t be a coach at all in my opinion.
I think Serena would crush any heterosexual guy in tennis if she played wearing only a bra and thong. Who could focus on a stupid yellow ball when you have all THAT running around in front of you?

The problem lies in finding a heterosexual guy that plays tennis.

If matchups like this actually took place, I think more of us would.

Barney you are such a Texan guy. I swear, every guy in Texas thinks cross country running, volleyball, and tennis are for girls only and any man who plays them is not a true man.
You need to go watch some of the top tournaments in men’s volleyball and tennis and I think then yull change that opinion of yours drastically
I dont know about cross country boys though hah! Ive seen only one or two that actually have muscle on them and that are at a high level

from my trainer I stopped training for shotput.
I hope you weren’t bad at it before you quit. I think this Mangold girl threw 35ish, and thats sad because there is a girl that was in my conference who as a freshman threw 40+. BTW, whats your jav, etc? Im a decathlete, so your take on these issues as another track and field athlete is interesting.
You are mistaken here, Julia. Barney is nothing but a red-blooded American.
If a person is a high school athlete with two functioning testicles, and that person volunatarily chooses to play volleyball, golf, or tennis instead of football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, or track and field then that person is a girly-man worthy of ridicule.
That tennis example was pretty bad, a top female tennis player vs a top male wouldn’t be that unevenly matched. And outside of elite tennis, a girl that trained with weights wouldn’t be very far behind a guy of equal tennis skill at all.

Actually, the tennis example might have been a little generous. The disparity in the quality of game and overall power of the top women and even a journeyman man at the pro level is amazing.
Venus (and Serena, when she’s not lugging around her typical extra 20) MIGHT win some points off of a ranked male pro. But certainly they could not take any sets and definitely would not win any matches against a man.
Venus Williams would win about 5 points over a five set match against a professional male tennis player.
Tennis is not a contact sport.
Bad example.
She’ll get trampled.
Wasn’t my example, just saying women can’t compete with men in tennis. Obviously, the discrepancy in football would be even greater because it is based more on raw strength and power than technique.
My whole point was that golf and tennis aren’t contact sports. The 2 women I stated are very very good and if anyone had any chance at beating men at a sport it would be those 2.
Annicka Sorenstam (or however you spell it) as beaten men (Michelle Wie too). They might not have made the cut at a men’s event, but they played better than several male golfers.
A good female tennis player can beat a good male tennis player. I’ve seen women smacking men around in tennis. Obviously when you’re talking about an extremely high level (like a top 100 male player versus a top 10 female player) that’s a different story… the male player will probably have way more power and speed as well as a great deal of skill.

Didn’t Billy Jean King beat Bobby Riggs?? and I thought Martina Navritalova was going to play Jimmy Connors. Maybe that one never happened.
BUT I think in those cases the women got to use the devil’s alleys and the men didn’t.

The Riggs/King match was played using normal tennis rules. Riggs had demolished Margaret Smith-Court (who was the #1 player in the world), but King studied the match and knew the formula that Riggs would use and was able to beat him.
However, had Riggs been younger (we was 20 years older than King), and in better shape, he’d have probably won (King ran him around the court and wore him down).
