I’m doing a bro split for past few weeks. I program my sets/reps ahead of time for each day and am using progressive overload to make sure i’m stimulating muscles. When I get to the gym on chest, shoulders, back and leg days for most part I stick to what i have programmed that day. However, on arm days for some reason I have a very hard time sticking to what i have programmed. I end up doing what i would describe as a mind muscle-burn sets. This basically means i’ll start doing sets with at moderate heavy weight, slow reps, squeeze hard, get a big pump and huge burn. I’ll do exercises that I spontaneously decide feels right at that moment. Doing this is motivating, fun and I feel i’m getting results (I don’t measure), but to be honest I have no proof that is true. My question is, is this normal? Do I need to stop “winging it” and be more disciplined like I am on other days? Note, i’m not a competitive bodybuilder/powerlifter however I take lifting very serious and it is a top priority and love in my life. Thanks for any advice.

Nah - it’s just arms. It’s actually a bigger risk to get too serious about them and either beat up your elbows or take away from your other days.
As long as you’re still motivated to do them, you’re probably not overdoing it. If you’re changing up schemes and getting a good mind-muscle connection/ pump, you’re probably protecting your elbows. All problems solved.
