they are not that impressive. He gets stuffed muched more than he is able to take someone down.

Funny. I see the exact opposite. The only guy I’ve seen who consistently put up an effective takedown defense was a prime cro cop, and he still went down numerous times.

I was thinking more along the lines of tossing a grappler. I remember him tripping Cro Cop a couple of times. His TD defense isn’t that great either but has very nasty sweeps and transitions. You always have to worry about getting your arm broke if you do decide to take him down.
