Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Real McKenzies, Dead Kennedys etc… for heavy lifting days.
Cardio - Don’t ask I think I’m probably the only guy on the board who listens to Jazz and Classical.

Punk and Electro
more specifically Leftover Crack, No Cash, and Combichrist gets me freakin pumped.
Free jazz and free jazz only.
Any Miles Davis with the second quintet with Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Tony Williams, and George Coleman / Wayne Shorter, especially Miles Smiles.
Any Keith Jarrett solo concert, period. Favorites are Bregenz, Vienna, Lausanne, Bremen, and of course… Koln.
Any “Art of the Trio” cd from Brad Mehldau, especially vol 2 & 4 at the Vanguard
Here is brad, circa 1999:
and the first part of Keith’s Lausanne concert from 75:
Sooo many good concerts from that year, if you can get the bootleg recording of Olympia, WA which was never released, it’s on par with Sun Bear and Bremen and Lausanne.
Also, Beethoven’s 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th symphonies, preferably performed by Vienna with Karajan. Scriabins symphonies, any of them. Prokofiev piano concerto 3, and Shostakovich prelude & fugues, performed by Keith, and Liszt B minor sonata by Argerich.
Coltrane’s Love Supreme, Giant Steps, Interstellar Space, Live at Seattle (where he reportedly tripped on LSD). Eric Dolphy, “Out to Lunch” Keith Jarrett’s “Facing You” can’t forget that one, the one that started them all…
Here is a video of Keith from 75. Keep in mind that this is ALL IMPROVISATION:
And from Facing You, here is “Lalene”
Metal,Metal everywhere (in this thread)
Lake of fire has been my go to squat/deadlift for years.
but lately ive been drifting more towards country specifically on a Marshal Tucker, Marty Robins, and Hank 3 kick while lifting.

I love them all, but Hank III is the only one I can use for lifting. The others don’t get my blood pumping.
Like Silo101 said I will listen to some dubstep. I just got into it. One song that is crazy is the song from the trailer for “Serbian” (probably the most awful movie I have ever read about and will never watch).
Also I love listening to some either harder rap music like Tech N9ne (just came out with a new album with perfect songs for working out like Worldwide choppers and Am I a Psycho, also the song Dysfunctional from a previous album) or rap music with a heavy beat and mean lyrics, I am a big fan of songs where rappers are dissing other rappers.
I don’t know a lot of metal, but Slipknot is the closest that I will listen to while working out.
PANTERA!!! Lamb of God and Trivium…nothing else is needed for me…maybe some All That Remains thrown in the mix
i dont know how Pantera was never on anyone’s list, so there ya go…im guessing cuz they are so fuckin awesome that they go on everyone’s lifting playlist without saying! \w/><\w/
AC - DC for squats
I’ve talked to the vocalist on this cd a few times so I suppose it wouldn’t hurt for me to promote him a bit. Defintatly good stuff, one of my favorite albums. - YouTube
Classic Metallica always good; however, their goodness was ironically fueled by anger (hence the new stuff sucking giant donkey balls.)
So, for a nice change of pace, may I remind you that a band named Rush exists? They range from light to hard rock, always with a very positive energy.
