Workout Music?

What music makes you guys get through a workout?

Mine - Sick of it all, MadBall, BurningSkies, HateBreed, Metalica, Old Offspring…that kinda thing.

Sometimes even some Techno!

So…tell us!

techno is ok i like 3 days grace and shinedown

Static-X, Mushroomhead, RATM, Disturbed, Eminem, Drowning Pool, Mudvayne, Nonpoint, older Metallica and some harder rap.

Killswitch Engage
Either End of Heartache or As Daylight Dies. The whole cd is good for workouts. Also Lamb of God or
Silent Civilian.

I listen to really hardcore music… the kind of music that is so freaking hardcore that when I tell people what it is, they get intimidated and scared.

We’ve had a lot of these threads, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m the only person who doesn’t like to wear headphones while I lift. I find it disorienting. Besides, my gym usually plays classic rock when I’m there.

I agree with seeing way too many of this thread. I disagree with working out to classic rock. I can only hear Elton or Dream Weaver so many times before my T levels fall.

Just got an ipod last week. I’ve had some of my best workouts ever since then. I like something heavy, but not so hardcore it scares and intimidates me while I’m trying to lift;). Nightwish, Tool, Ramstein, Stratovarius, White Zombie, Metallica, Pantera are some of my favorites

I have a mix of hard rap, some metallica, pantera, RATM, alice in chains. I have a few go to songs that get me worked up for heavier sets, and a few slower/gentler songs for in between sets so I am not amped up all the time. For some inexplicable reason, “Spirit in the Sky” got me through my heaviest of box squats today.

Okay tell me so I can go get it.

None. I can’t focus on my lifts. Gym music is fine, its just white noise for me.

jay chou and classical music

Symphony X!!! “Divine Wings of Tragedy” just helped me achieve a new 1RM yesterday – Michael Romeo is my new hero and I’ve been spending the better part of tonight trying to figure out the intro solo to “Smoke and Mirrors!” Alice In Chains, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Dio also forge the flames in my belly very nicely.

Arch Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, Rammstein, Cypress Hill, DMX, Eyehategod, Slayer, Metallica, Pantera, KMFDM etc etc.

Now that’s a solid album. 90% of their shit is gym-worthy.

Same here.

Besides, I want to have a good impression of my surroundings when doing things like cleans, squats or deads in a crowded commercial gym.

i cant get through a workout with some form of Slipknot, greatest band bar none

The Weathergirls - It’s raining men
Emilia - Big Big World
Abba - Dancing Queen
Gloria Gaynor - I will survive
Village People - Macho man
Right said Fred - I’m too sexy
Soft Cell - Tainted love
Cher - Believe
Boys Town Gang - Ain’t no mountain high enough
Village People - In the navy
Alicia Bridges - I love the nightlife
Cyndi Lauper - Girls just wanna have fun
Whitney Houston - I will always love you
Wham - Wake me up before you go go

I listen to hard trance, uplifting techno etc Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Graham Gold, some Tiesto, and general mixes of other top DJs work well.

I’ll have to agree with Symphony X. In fact Power Metal in general is awesome for lifting to:

Helloween
Stratovarius
Luca Turilli
Dragonforce
Iced Earth

are all worth a listen.

As far as black metal is concerned:

Brujeria
Anaal Nathrakh
Thorns
Mayhem
Emperor

over on Elitefts Dave Tate mentions how awesome Emperor and Brujeria are in particular, so don’t just take my word for it.

Other bands that make it into my workout playlist are:

Dillinger escape plan
Botch
RATM
Melt Banana
Lightning Bolt
Hella
Capricorns

When I get nostalgic for my old ‘punk’ days:

Bad Religion
NOFX
The Offpsring (SMASH, Ignition and IXNAY)
Propagandhi
Anti-Flag

I train at home and have cool neighbours so no need for headphones. I can imagine that shit would get in the way.
