For those that have had a BioSignature done (or understand hormonal profiles), what are some reasons for someone to store fat predominantly in the thighs, calves, glutes and lower back area?
I’m lean-ish right now, but I’ve never been “ripped” and I have noticed that even when I am slim, those areas above are where almost all of my fat is stored. I can’t really slim down any further (I’m 6’ at 175 lbs.) to lose any more body-fat, because quite frankly I don’t have the muscle. Is it just my genetics, or is something up hormonally?
I look about 150 lbs. up top, but have super fat guy calves.
If I recall correctly, glutes and thighs are estrogen sites. Lower back is current insulin resistance (whereas upper back has more to do with genetic predisposition for insulin resistance). Don’t quote me on that last one, it could be the opposite. I can’t find the reference.

Yes, the lower back is insulin resistance. The mid-axillary is the general carb-tolerance site. The calf has to do with growth hormone, but I don’t remember in what way specifically.
I’ve carried extra fat in my glutes and hams since I was a child…I’ve always wondered if it had anything to do with low testosterone.
Ever since I was a kid I had severe general anxiety, social anxiety, and seperation anxiety. I’ve also been overly passive my whole life.
Aside from having extra fat in my legs, and having emotional issues my whole life (im 19), I’ve felt decent (was horny all the time, liked lifting weights, etc…) up until two years ago (17).
I started getting horrible fatique all the time, I lost my libido, and got horrible joint/muscle pain. I had to stop my weightlifting (my passion), my job (landscaping), and any social life I had…albeit little (im sort of anti-social).
I’ve been to 4 doctors and endo’s over the past year and a half without too much success…most of them just wanted to put me on an anti-depressent…I think it was Cymbalta. I wasn’t depressed though, and I told them that.
I finally found a doctor who would test my free testosterone (they wouldn’t test my total), and it came out being just below the norm at 9.7 (normal being 10-41 for their lab).
Since I can’t find a docter who will prescribe a full hypothalamus/pituitary/adrenal/testosterone blood test, I am taking matters into my own hands, and prescribing them myself at “mymedlabs.com”.
It’s going to cost me a pretty penny, but I’m tired of wasting my life away with people who aren’t helping me.
It means that the thought is that disproportionately high fat storage in the lower back, revealed by disproportionately high skinfold reading there, indicates insulin resistance.
Which in turn means that higher amounts of insulin are needed to do the same job in normalizing blood sugar, or, same amount of insulin is less effective than with normal insulin sensitivity.
