I’m really thrilled with my progress of late and I put it down entirely to joining this forum. When you train alone at home for a long period of time you get stuck in your own little bubble unaware of how you compare strength wise, to others of the same age and weight. And even though you think you train really hard and consistently you inevitably end up getting complacent.
This forum has shown me just how strong “older” people can get and has really forced me to up my game.
So a big thankyou to all the very strong men and women on the over 35 forum.
Keep getting stronger and dragging me along with you!
Thanks MJ. Been mild and wet here of late, but we have an “artic blast” as the weatherman says on its way for next week. Snow forecasted and down to minus 6. I must dig out my wooly hat!

Deadlifts @ 396 lbs 5-5-5-5-5 (That was it!)
Didn’t feel at all like doing it tonight. Felt tired from three days physical labour. Did it anyway and once I got going it was OK. Increased the weight 11 lbs over last week. Was going to do some chins and dips after but I couldn’t be “arsed”. Content to have just got the DL’s.

Next week 401 lbs. A huge milestone for me.
401 for 5 x 5? That’s awesome.
Thanks for saying so KP.
I’m actually feeling much more confident after tonight. I don’t know about you but I’m constantly up and down from one week to the next. One week I’m super confident the next week I’m totally “psyched out” and dreading my next session. But the fact that I managed tonight even though I really wasn’t up for it, gives me hope.
Looking strong Brett. Remember sumo-deads are for real men because real men are to inflexible to regular deads. I’m looking forward to the outdoor workouts you come up with. I think you’ll enjoy training with the sun on your face and a breeze through your hair.

Living in Wales I don’t think I’ll be getting much sun on my face, plenty of breeze through the hair though.

Hill Sprints - 35yds steep x 12
Jogged more than sprinted. Didn’t want to irritate my nicely healing calf strain. The icy cold air made breathing harder.

Steve, I thought it was the opposite!? I am not flexible enough to do sumo properly.
Looking great. Those are some big squats. Can’t wait to see the next step…400+ for 5x5! Woo hoo!

Thanks for the woo hoo LS, Unfortunately the 400+ for 5x5 is my deadlift not my squat. My squat’s still at 352.
I’ve never even tried sumo I’ve always done conventional. I guess sumo would require greater hip flexibility (with the wider stance) and conventional, better knee and ankle flexibility, I don’t know.

Well aren’t I the ass. I guess I should be more thorough. In any case, 5x5 with 400+ is big deadlifting too. Hell, wish I could do it.
