Excellence Matters

They put sand on your roads? They put salt on ours. Cakes the car all over so you can’t see out. Oh, and when it gets cold, the windshield wiper fluid freezes or something so can’t clean it.

Y’all keep that stuff up there with ya. I’ll take a cold rainy northeaster any day over anything close to snow! Big work on the half presses OG

Training has been good. I’m glad I don’t travel for work.

Cav- They use a salt/sand mix by us other than in wetland and conservation land areas…than its just sand…it was freakin’ cold riding the other day…20 minutes was all I was up for…but man does the bike want to roll in the dry, cool air…

JW- Thanks man, Half Presses are fun! It was a nice change…probably go back to them in a cycle or two

Joe- Thanks for stopping by…and the travel thing sucks!

I’m in deload this week so nothing to report…

I’m whicha on the travel issue. I think I have it figured out as best I can. Traveling from Texas to Cali every other week now instead of weekly. Have a gym in both places. When I stay elsewhere I try to book a hotel with gym reprecocity. I just need to remember to pack a lacross ball in my bag to roll on.
I’m keeping an eye on your chain work. I have 45lb chains and bands in my new gym but haven’t used them yet.
Enjoy the deload.

Op- Thanks for dropping in, the chains are fun…really changes the feel…

DELOAD IS OVER! did some light squats and lunges and GM’s. New cycle starts Sunday. Going to try and rock Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday for lift days…of course work will get in the way and blow up my schedule…unless I hit Powerball…yeah that’s a good plan!

Tomorrow if my shoulder feels good I will max test paused BP just for kicks…

Peace

I went to the gym to do one thing this AM.

Paused BP test ( quasi)

225x3, 245x1, 265x1 (+10lbsPR) 270x1(+5more)

No one in the freakin gym this AM, I mean no one…me, a lady with her trainer and the crazy dude …no way was I asking the crazy dude for a spot…once he talks to you he talks to you all the time…in the middle of your set he’ll talk to you…no thanks…so I bagged out at 270…definitely have 5 maybe 10 more lbs to grab…but only what’s in the books counts…

That was it…disappointed but still a step forward.

Off to the salt mine,

Peace

Looks like the paused BP test went ok to me, especially without a spotter. I’m with you on not choosing motormouth, I have made that mistake before and it NEVER goes away.
Good work this morn, good way to kick off a Monday.

Thanks Led, yeah I felt good just wanted to get a little more! next time.

Hey a PR is a PR and just another step on the road.

Congrats.

Thanks Joe…agreed I’ll take em anytime anyway!!

BP 5x185, 5x210, 9x240 ( +2reps PR) I couldn’t generate any bar speed in warm ups or in my first working sets so the 9 was a nice surprise.

MP 5x10x85

DB Rows 3x10x65

chins 14…my left bicep starting complaining so I called it… Biofreeze time

increasing protein intake to 200-210 grams a day to see what happens…been doing about 150-170 a day prior.

I would really like your pressing strength. I’m supposed to do 10x3x240 tomorrow and it will be a miracle if I hit it.

I get surprised on the slow rep days as well. It’s like being in high torque diesel mode.
Great job on the PR! +2 is big.

Joe- Thanks I appreciate that…

OP- that’s it that’s exactly it …High Torque Diesel!! or slow like a tree sloth!
Squats 5x195, 5x225, 5x255 …not a whole lot a umpf…been a long week…

no lifting tomorrow. Sat morning taking my son down to Fairfield to watch his future team play lacrosse. It will be awesome spending the day with him ( no girlfriend tagging along) doing something we both enjoy.

Trap Deads 5x10x175

Side bridges 2x45sec side

Rev crunches 2 sets of some

Have a great weekend , off to the salt mine

I’ve got to believe that high rep trap bar deads are much easier on your back than regular deads.

No doubt Joe…I tweaked my back twice last year trying to grind out reps doing conventional so I decided if a program calls for high reps Im doing Trap bar… I would get tired , form would break, form sucked to begin with and bam…achy breaky back…and I have been doing trap bar deads for a few cycles anyway so it fit right in.

Time for a Gorilla walk then off to CT.

New here, OG…do you cycle between the trap bar and conventional?

Kairiki- stop by anytime…yes to your question I also float in sumo and snatch grip. I am not a competitive lifter so I wonder around and amuse myself.

MP 3x115, 3x135, 3x155 just sticking to the rep scheme today…tired.

BP 5x10x160 good bar speed

Chins various grips 39

OH DB Ext 2x10x70

Wife and daughter away visiting colleges…My son is working today so I came home from gym and went out back with the dogs and sat in the sun…it’s about 39 out but the sun is warm and its quiet…freakin best half hour I have had recently! made me realize that I am a fortunate man…not wealthy by any means but fortunate.
