Evaluate My Program

This is the workout I have been doing the last few weeks to prepare myself for football. It is the 3 day Westside cycle (with a floating day) and I’m using the Charlie Francis system for my running. I’m a 6’1 245lb Guard if that makes any difference. Let me know what you guys thank of my program.

Friday- May 27th
Pre: Band Ext. Rotation (2x12), Face Pulls (2x15), Thumbs down Lat Raise (2x12) Giant Set
Main Workout:

  1. D/E Bench: 135x3x3 (2 close, 1 wide), 145x3x8 (all sets had a double looped mini band)
    2.Close Grip Pin Press: 225x5, 245x3, 255x3 (then mini band pushdowns x25)
    3.Seated Rows (wave bar/wide): 160x10, 170x10x3
    4.Rear Delt Raise (lying on decline): 15x8x3
    5.Hammer Curls: 45x8x2 (8 each arm) (supersetted with rear delts)
    Post: Static Flex ? Shoulders, Lats

bump, any of the S&C coaches on for Prime Time tonight want to give me some feed back?

Looks pretty good. I would make sure that you are taking plenty of rest between runs to ensure neural recovery. As well, you might want to do a few less warm-ups on your front squats, as it seems like you’re doing a lot of sets/reps to get to your heavy sets.

I would be careful with the extensions. I am finding more and more, and others are backing this up, that extensions dont do much except cause elbow pain. do band extensions for high reps or substitute high board presses.

I do the board presses on my D/E day, but I’m kind of learly of adding them on my ME day because I use 3 boards as a ME lift. Also, I’m trying to avoid keeping an exercise for longer than 2 weeks. Would it be ok to use 4/5 board presses on both days for the rest of the summer, and just vary it up every once and awhile with an extension? What type of sets/reps do you like to go with on these?
