Energy systems

Is it possible to train (and improve) two different energy systems at the same time? I would like to improve my time in a 5 Km run while increasing my strength & power. I am currently doing renegade type training and adding long runs.

“strength and power” are not energy systems… your ability to develop both aerobic capacity and strength simultaneously will depend on your level of development. If you are already close to your genetic potential for strength, then adding any substantial volume of aerobic running will probably detract from your lifting. If you’re more of a novice, then you can definitely improve both at the same time. However, the more running you do, the less rapidly you will be able to progress in the weight room…
